If the Rich get Richer and the Poor becomes Poor, the middle class will often join the poor soon too. Because as the prices go high the poor don't afford anything, the middle class purchase less and less with their little money, while the rich experience just inconvenience.

The idea is that the Middle Class is disappearing into the other two classes. The upper middle class is moving into the rich class, the middle and lower middle classes are moving into the poverty class.

I believe the middle class is slowly disappearing with most of them becoming poor. This is alarming considering the political and social impact of the Filipino middle class.

middle-class is practically non-existent in the philippines. the oligarchs still rule the country - the zobels, ayalas, sys, tans, & gokongwei. less than 5% of the population control 90% of the nation's wealth. that's why the politricans are greedy, trying to get their own piece of the pie.

Urban Myth

The middle class should ideally get bigger, such is a characteristic of developed economies. However, if the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer, it doesn't mean that the middle class is getting better. They can also stagnate and remain as they are. I don't think they would increase or decrease though. We cannot say that based solely on this circumstance.

In many countries the middle class are usually where you can see the bulk of the population & some are further subdivided into high, mid, low middle classes. So they REMAIN in the middle.

And depending on which country we are talking about most of them are slipping down their class .

The rich and poor classification invented only by BOASTFUL British people coz according to them they are only SUPREME above all, meaning the other people are belong to lower class and servants to them.
