Create large fund raisers focused on
helping raise awareness about global warming/clean the earth/make it so that animal rights are acknowledged and fought for...

Trying to get rid of as much poverty as I can in the places that need it the most/ raise awareness about sex trafficking and modern day slavery/ hold campaigns about starvation that runs rampant in poor countries.

Sending vaccines to countries where people are dying from curable diseases/ raise AIDS awareness.

Raising awareness about the current genocide in Darfur/ ensure the safety of the peace keepers sent to Darfur by the U.N.the conditions the people in North Korea live under
Providing aid to war torn countries and places riddled with violence and corruption.

I would start my own charity, the half mil would be invested, with the dividends being used to fund the charity.

I would pick one hard working, but very poor family, possible a single parent family, who really need only one thing to help them make it - an education. The charity would provide money to complete a bachelors' degree, supplement the income lost by going to school full time, and pay for books.

Just think the difference it would make to take a family living in poverty, and educate the mother, who'd like to be a registered nurse. . .Four years later, she's achieved her nursing degree. Before the program, she made mimimum wage - after the program, she can start at $18 an hour.

Or take the father who makes minimum wage, and under the same program, he's able to become a teacher. . . .or whatever!

It might sound like alot, but that's what I'd do...

nena doesn't have good business sense and wouldn't know what to do with that kind of money so i'd let my parents handle it. i'm sure they would put it in some kind of trust fund for me and some in real estate investments. and knowing them, they'd most likely give a big chunk to the church which is mighty fine with me. but i would take the $1,000 cash and splurge...on rodeo drive, that would probably last for a couple of hours. oh, i'd take another $1,000 cash and throw a party for the yappers.

I would take $200,000 and pay off my home here. I would put $30,000 in a fund for each of my kids to use for college. I would funnel $100,000 to my love so she could come here easily and use it to invest in her own dream business. I would put $75,000 into savings and investments. I would send $50,000 to her family to help in anyway needed. We would take about $25,000 for a little tour of all the places my love wanted to see. And the rest...Well that will go to taxes. So I really wont change much coz the money is going to be put to work immediatly. My monthly expenses will just come down a bit allowing me to get a little more free time in, enjoy my loved ones, and save more money.

sad to say but in the US, 1 million is no longer a lot of money. yes, it is a lot from a poor man's perspective but what will he have left after paying off all his bills, mortgage, debts, student loans, credit cards, etc???

if i personally had 1 million handed to me, i would pay off my parents' debts and then mine. as a human being, i can admit that we will never be satisfied. we always strive to be better than what we are when in actuality, we can live off of what we already have.

the ideal answer would be to help those in need and yadi yada...but that's a whole different story.........

A million dollars only equates to Â£500,000 and that will just about buy you a reasonable-sized house (not a mansion or anything huge) in southern England or a 2-bedroom flat in a decent part of London. But I already own my place and don't need anything more.

I would give some to the 5 charities that I support on a monthly basis anyway and give some to my parents so that they can see out their retirement in comfort. I would then invest the rest and backpack round the world on the interest, using the capital to support me once I return.
