You should be happy to know that is only 5% government tax on certain foods in Malaysia. The tax is not applicable automatically for all F&B related businesses in Malaysia. The F&B business need to register to custom and obtain a Service tax license. If they do not make a certain amoung of revenue per year in the F&B business, they cannot obtain this license and charge the 5% government tax. If you are in doubt that they are cheating you, ask them to show you their license. Is a consumers right!
By the way, are you ready for even more tax on food in the future? GST is scheduled to start its implementation from somewhere after the second quarter year of 2007. You like it or not, all Malaysian will have to get use to GST. Unlike previously, if you go to fast food restaurants/ high class restaurant only you pay plus 5% government tax. Under new GST rule, even if you go to the coffee shop is subject to Service tax. For more information, google it with keyword GST in Malaysia. |

Its not the waitress fault that you were imposed tax.
i hope that was just a question that you posted and not something which you really did as that would have been the actions of a total loser.
look for the ones who created the problems if you have to.
the waitress pays for tax too. |

I'm glad you've enjoyed our food and service. I will provide the feedback to my manager sir. But now, you'd have to foot the bill before you can leave the restaurant sir.
(I will be telling my crew about this irritating customer during supper!) |
