I've been to both many times (also been to Taiwan and South Korea). Out of all of them I like Japan the best.

I like Japan better because it's more modernized than China. It's also a beautiful place. China has too much people... but it's still a nice place.

Japan's government is no where near as strict as China's. I have friends in both Japan and China and they keep me updated on government issues.

Both, Japan for a good quality brand name products .
China is for a good quality non brand name similar products

ok...this is only my opinion and i dont wanna offend anyone. but i definitely prefer japan. the food is better...the people are usually nicer. i have been to china and japan. they are both super crowded..but china is just insane. the people are super rude and in japan...people were really nice. but its hard to say...china is waaaaay bigger and there are so many cool things to see and japan..not so much. so you hafta look at all the different aspects.

japan alll the wayy.china's poor and has like nothing but poluted land and people making stuff. but japan has all those electronics and games and sooooooo much more entertainment. they have a disney world there and many many water parks :)

I would say Japan.

Taiwan (ROC) and Hong Kong aren't bad places either.

The PRC (Communist China) well it depends on "which is better" factor you're talking about. I don't like commies, but the Chinese do make very good food.

The Japanese makes very good food too.

Japan is a wealthy developed nation and china is a third world country.. please don't compare the two as they are in totally different classes.
