Try 2,500 a day and maybe that's not enough for all the things your planning to do

wayne
I'm in Bangkok right now, and there is no way in Hell you can get by for 5 days on 5000 baht. That would only pay for your hotel room.

Beer is around 80 b per bottle, depending on brand name and which bar you are in.

Food prices vary wildly from 30 b for some barbecued meat and rice off a street vendor to 500 b for a western meal.

Lunch, dinner, and drinks for 2 people on a single date cost me 2000 baht.

Seriously, if you're coming here to party for a week, I recommend you bring 20 000 baht.

If that's all you have , you best stay home, 5000 baht will not go very far, The dollar is exchanged at a rate of 31 baht. If you are not familiar with the prices, you will be taken advantage of.

If you take the Pattaya VIP bus from the Ekamai bus station (off a Skytrain stop) the price will be around 117 baht for the 2 hour ride. Like all forms of transportation - keep your valuables with you at your seat. Do not put any money, jewelry, cameras, computers or other valuables in any checked in bag, especially a bus arranged in the Khao San Road area. Use a regular bus station and purchase your bus ticket from the ticket window.

In Pattaya hotels, food and transportation is a little cheaper than Bangkok - but your budget should be a little more if you intend to party as much as you want. As a comparison, Bangkok would cost more than Pattaya for everything - so Pattaya would still be cheaper for the same amount of time.

The cheapest hotel prices are in the summer months from around June to September (fewer tourists.) If you are planning on coming to Thailand during December to middle January the prices for hotels will be much higher.

Some "slightly better cheaper" hotels reduce their prices during the low season, their rooms will have A/C - starting around 400 - 600 baht. (Fan only rooms even cheaper - check out Soi Buakhaw.) At the best this leaves you 600 baht per day for everything else - not much for partying! If you eat at an "all you can eat breakfast buffet" that will run around 110 baht (Lek Hotel, Apex Hotel and Diana Hotel on Pattaya 2nd Road.) Choose a hotel close to Pattaya 2nd Road so you can save money by walking to many places.

Baht bus transportation in Pattaya is 10 baht per pax for foreigners (Thai's pay 5 baht.) This is for set routes, wave a baht bus down and hop on, press buzzer to get off - pay 10 baht! Choose a moving baht bus (same for a moving meter taxi in Bangkok) and the ride will be cheaper - avoid bartering the price!

Both Bangkok and Pattaya will cost you a little more than your budget allowance, Pattaya will be cheapest though! If you have other people sharing the cost of a hotel room you will have a little more to spend but lose any privacy! Use plastic for spare money and pay it off after you get home.

Good luck.

Sorry you won' get far with the above mentionned things - even with the double you still have to cut down.

Cheap Food is about 150 baht a day...
cheap Hotel is about 1,000 baht a day
so, if you dont drink alcoohol ...you still wont be able to fit in your 5000 budget.

it is enough.

there are so many nice ac rooms for 500 bath per night in bangkok and pattaya (together 2,000 bath). food cost you 150 bath per day (together 600 bath). water 30 bath (together 120 bath). bus ride from ekamai to pattaya (117 bath). transport 100 bath per day (together 400 bath).

= 3237 bath

there are still 1763 bath.

$ 1 Australian = 27 baht you will need at lest 10,000 baht a day EACH !

traveler
The key word is "enjoy". You can survive on 5000 baht but you can not enjoy Bangkok and Pattaya. Pubing = couple beers = a bar fine. Hotel costs 500 baht up. Disco = couple beers = a bar fine. Alcohol is obtainable at 7-11 and other stores for less then bars/discos/clubs. Food is from 20 baht (local street vendor) up.

Only last you at best a day, dear friend. Need to up the ante.

no ofcourse not because bangkok is not like before where everything was cheap before the meter taxis will take you any where for about 50 baht and the tuk tuk for 20 baht now the taxis never on their meters and they will not take you for less than 200 baht and the tuk tuk for about 70-100 baht. the hotels became more expensive. so you need more and going to pattaya in a minibus is about 2000 baht maybe you need for 5 days there like 50,000 baht or less but not 5000baht

CB
Depending on how basic your wanting to go, i suggest you bring more. It's better to be safe. try 15000. if your wanting a really good party week.

Have fun

5000 baht will not be anywhere near enough to cover cost of food, accommodation and alcohol, disco for 5 days.
5000 baht will barely cover adecent hotel for 5 days in Bangkok alone - even if you stay at really cheap place.

I think you'd better do a LOT more research.
If you go to Pattaya, 5000 baht will barely cover just the disco ONLY. and that is NO alcohol involved.

I think you are kidding youself going there for 5 days for that little amount.

I could not disagree with the above posts more...

You can can a room for the night for about 350baht - a single room. If you a sharing you can get one for 400baht meaning 200baht each.
You can get street vendor pad thai (food) for 20baht, but 100 baht is more than enough for a meal (unless your stupid and go to burger king).
Alcohol - you could get a beer for about 60-100baht.

2000 baht would be enough for 4 - 5 days, if your willing to do no shopping.

No way....on THB5000.....as Alcohol + Bar + Thailand = Bar girl

Try THB 5000/day and then ya talking

TuSK
Wait a minute - 5 friends, 5 days, on 5000 baht to enjoy bangkok and pattaya? Is this enough enjoy both places? NO.

That's basically food money for 5 days.... and it's going to be very basic food for all 5 of you.
