Is BBQ etiquette the same in the Philippines and US as it is in Australia? |
BBQ RULES
We are about to enter the BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity .
When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:
Routine...
(1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces,
and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.
(4) The woman remains outside the compulsory three meter exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman.
Here comes the important part:
(5) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
More routine...
(6) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(7) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer
while he flips the meat .
Important again:
(8) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.
More routine...
(9) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
(10) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
And most important of all:
(11) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
(12) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off." And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women... |

Those are really GOLDEN rules to follow, Captain!
How I wish every woman should observe this etiquette!
As far as I know, this is still a man's world! (A minute, Captain!
My elder sister wants me to finish the laundry!) |

Nonono. The wife buys the food,
The housekeeper/maid does everything else... unless it's lechon baboy, then a man does the cooking. Then the housekeeper does the rest. Everyone congratulates the wife. Husband worries over where to put all the leftovers and the price of the dinner.
QUESTION: Why is it when it's your birthday, instead of getting presents you have to feed a crowd of people? |

maybe the man is drunk... here in the philippines, BBQ night is a labor of love between a man and a woman... and the complement is given to both of them... |

as soon as their kids are old enough to handle a knife, the parents leave the BBQ job to the little ones and they go on and socialize with the other grownups. |

Yeah yeah yeah!
There is a reason someone wrote that up!
Some of those items are definitely true. But when I barbecue the Cebu Snow Bunny helps cutting and getting the meat rubbed and in marinade, but I am elbow deep in it all too! I usually make the beans and the mop sauce (I purchase the finish sauce).
She is usually the one grumping at me about if it is done yet or not. Usually it isn't and sooner or later it comes off whether the barbecue is truly ready or not.
The Cebu Snow Bunny is in charge of setting the table and cleanup and preparing any food items I am not doing (i.e. bangus, mungo, rice etc) |

When I'm cooking out I do it all. Buy the food, prep it, cook it, and eat my fair share.
I didn't know there was such a thing as barbecue ettiquette. |

?

Im sure it has been this way all over the world and has not changed since CAVEMAN times.
Women find watching the man pretend he is the "great provider" extremely entertaining. |
