Juana is a Spanish name. It's like Jane as Juan is for John.
It's a popular name in Philippines and Mexico since both countries were ruled by Spaniards for a couple of hundred years. |

Most Filipinos have names with Spanish origins because of the 300+ years of colonization. Colombia was also under Spanish influence so I would assume that it might have been just a coincidence but ask your Dad again or other relatives. |

No, Philippines got most of its names from the Spanish rulers so Juana, a name coming from Spain is not originally Philippine. |

No, it's Spanish.
The Philippines being under Spain's rule for 333 years can probably justify that the Filipinos were heavily influenced by them in various aspects.
Re: prejudice, if you didn't already know, the name Juana used to be associated to "maid". Unless the world still remains immoral. If so, I guess they still assume the same.. |

Juana was the name of the Filipina Queen who converted to Christianity when PI was land on by Migilan.
But I also knew a lady in Thiland who was named Juana...
Many Mexican and other countries too are named Juana. |

Juana is Spanish in origin but used by Filipinos because of four centuries of Spanish influence. The majority of Filipinos have Spanish surnames and first names. If you mean by "Filipino", commonly used by Filipinos, yes. |

remember that the Philippines was under the Spaniards for more than 300years... so no wonder, almost Filipinos have Spanish surnames, as with other former Spanish colonies... so, you really can't tell whether your surname "Juana" is from the Philippines or Colombia, or probably from Mexico, or Argentina, but one thing is for sure, it is originally from Spain, whether by blood/ancestry, or by conversion (changing of surnames in Spanish-sounding names)... |

It's spanish name my friend.what made you ask? |
|

Aref H4

Affirmative.
Nowadays, "Juana" will not answer you if you call her by that name, but rather turn her head with a shampoo commercial effect if you say "Joanna", instead.
Just make sure you're not sharpening a razor while you call her by that name, or she might identify you with Sweeney Todd and quite smartly run away. |
