The Philippines has the richness of tropical dreamlands characterized with white sand beaches, abundance of wild life, thousands of vegetation species, and an area enough to build sets of houses or even a park. There’s nothing more to ask than visiting or retiring in a place like the Philippines. In fact, there are now hundreds of foreign nationals benefiting from their obtained properties in the country.
Living in the city means business, entertainment, towering buildings, big malls or in short, fast life. You are lost if you are new. Be equipped properly.
Living in an area out of the city is called "provincial life" in the Philippines. Simple, secluded, warm ambiance far from all the polluted loud life of the city, characterize life in the province. The community is tiny, but the neighborhood is big in terms of friendship. Everybody knows each other but they respect one’s private well being. They share, laugh and help each other build a peaceful community. |

Yep , highly recommendable place to live in. Alot of Filipinos I know who have migrated to the States plan on moving back for retirement.. just keep this in mind.. the Philippines is great IF and only IF you have money, because if you don't .. just stay and save up where ever in God's awesome planet you're from
Good Luck |

My bro-in-law has a lot of retired American friends here. From what I heard from him, they have chosen to live here because of the easier and more comfortable way of life here. And they're happy. Lol. That's all I heard. Just sharing. ;-) |

Nice place to visit. Not settle. You'll miss the comforts of home.
My sister is in Philippines for college and misses things from the US so badly like:
-Chocolate
-Italian Food
-Pizza
You can find stuff like that there, but its not the same. |

I'm from Philippines, yes its a nice place for retirement.
The only thing that we cannot offer compare to the U.S. mainland is the "911" or emergency calls. But if you retire and leave in an urban area I think its not an issue. Or you can have your own helicopter or private jet for transportation, since Philippines is composed of 7,000+ islands and transportation is one thing that you need to focus once you retire here. |

Why don't you visit first? Then decide whether you could easily adapt to the place and settle there. If you're American, there are thousands and thousands like you living there. Also, read oneiloilojeepney's answer above. |

I visited the Philippines last March and April.
I think it is a great place to visit. Great beaches, great scenery, great food, nice people...It has everything.
Settling would be nice too. |

I think visiting is much better. Settle in is much harder, especially if you going to settle near your relatives. They will be always going to ask you help them. |

I enjoy visiting, but at this point of my life I do not see myself living there. I can see myself being retired there, but we will see what life holds. |

I will be biased if I choose both - to settle in or to visit because I am from the Philippines. But from your question I guess you are not a Filipino. Let me welcome you to our country even if you haven't visited the place as yet. You will love it here, either to just visit or to live permanently. It may be a lot different from where you come from but you'll get used to the diverse cultures and behaviors of the local people but rest assured we are all very friendly, warm and really hospitable. We love visitors and they are always welcome just as we'd welcome you if you decide to come. Don't be frightened of stories like terrorists or criminals, any place in the world also has it's share of shady characters; it is not exclusive to the Philippines. |

I moved to philippines couse of the climate, Good value for the money and later i learn that the most importen reason was the people.
Everything here is different from Europe, Its like going back to the real vallue in life, apreciate the small things and a lower pace in life. Also if you have a little money, you can realy make a different here.

It's a nice place to visit or to live. I have lived here since January 2002.
Why ?
Tropical Climate with many beautiful islands.
Natives are friendly and English Speaking.
Cost of living is way less than the U.S. so my retirement income gives us a good standard of living and quality of life. |
