Not even close. There are alot of poor people but the country is more established in many ways than most. Take it from someone who has been there its very rich in its diversity of people and culture and almost everyone there has a cell phone so go figure.

No..of course!! I'm a Filipina..and that answer above is really true..we can still afford buy all
those expensive things, can even afford to buy latest model of cellular phones, expensive cars, expensive jewelries..and to tell you we also live
life easy here..we do have those state of the
art facilities too..Even those investors are
going here for investments, if we're the po0rest
country, then why do they came here?Why do
tourists are visiting Philippines..it's because
they also love our c0untry, we even have lots
of nice places, those tourist destinations..we're
very proud we're Filipinos! If you have chance
try to visit our place..its not that nice as US, and
all of those 1st world countries but surely
you'll be amazed too on what Philippines really
is!!

Not yet but with the way the government is handling the economy of the country and its bungling effort to silence a "star" witness in the ZTE deat, it wouldn't be far behind that the country will find itself the poorest among the poorest countries in the world.

Last time I looked, Bangladesh was considered the poorest Asian country, but that was several years ago, I wouldn't be surprised if they have improved economically and have overtaken the Philippines the way Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and South Korea did a few decades ago.

Of course not, there are still a lot of poor countries poorer than the Philippines.

The Philippines has well-paved roads, skyscrapers, cars, cellphones, laptops, businesses, highways, plantations, modern airports, world-class theme parks, and of course the world's largest malls.

So, How can the Philippines be the poorest country in the world?

How could you tell that? have you ever been to Republic of Congo, or in Somalia?, and other parts of Africa? have you been to Papua New Guinea, or in Romania?

philippines are not the poorest...try to look africas situation...they are not in good situation compared to us...hey we can still eat 3 times a day or more but there are part of the world where they make clay as their food...its so disturbing, right?...we are so lucky...

of course not. i read an article in wikipedia that the philippines will be a newly industrialized country in the future. if we are poor, how come we have tvs cellphones computers malls and also natural resources, go to africa youll see that the situation there is much worse.

According to the World Bank, we're a middle-income country. We're also somewhere in the middle as far as gross domestic product or the size of our economy. So we're middle class. Like all people from the middle class, sometimes we worry that we're slipping into poverty, but that rarely happens because we have the wits and the resources to avoid that, and even to move on upwards.

So stop thinking that the Philippines is the poorest country. Have some pride, man.
