Singapore is the regional hub for Asia Pacific of almost all companies in USA and Europe, Japan and Canada and Middle East . They want to house their Ex pats and Oil and Gas storage in Singapore because of the safety issues , discipline , peace, less government intervention and bureaucracy , very small land area but sustainable progress in all aspects health and traffic. Very good infrastructure and the Government and people make it easy for foreigners to come and stay in their country. Its also modern so living there is not so constricting. It is known as "fine " city because for every law infraction , there is commensurate fines. Singapore is Democratic/Authoritarian Rule , sometimes it works /sometimes it does not work . In Singapore it works , because their very strict to law breaker so the he law abiding people enjoy and progress living there . So Authoritarianism is good if the people governing thinks of the good of the majority not themselves .
Of course the opposition in Singapore will say no !! but from the looks of it , Singapore is progressing and the people of Singapore , businessman , and tourist could feel the progress in their own lives , so why fix that is not broken .
For a small land area which you could visit in like 2 hours the whole of Singapore and a population smaller than our Manila , Philippines with quite big number is foreigners .
Yes , very popular for good reasons. |

Sure, many people outside of Singapore have heard of it. It is known as being efficient and clean, and for having somewhat draconian laws. From people I know who live there (and from my own visits) I think of it as clean, well-managed, boring, and intellectually stifling. And great food! D |

i don't know where you are from but how do you define 'famous' ? do you mean whether it is a popular tourist destination ? what i know and understand as i travel and meet many people from different countries is that most do not know singapore and where it is. as much as many people think the average american is well-educated and well-read, i beg to differ. most average americans do not know where singapore is and most think that it is part of china and communistic! yes, believe it! if americans think so, imagine what others in less developed countries think when you ask the question. somehow, many people will know hong kong better than singapore. i guess singapore tourism or their related bodies need to do a lot more work to promote the country and its culture (especially - they are not in china and it is a democracy!!). |

I think so. Singapore is famous for being a great country, with many educated people, and very clean. You can get a fine there if you throw any type of trash (and size) on the street.
Go on google to learn more about Singapore. |
