If you are boarding an international flight, it is always a safer bet to purchase what gifts you need in the airport's duty free shop itself - because you can purchase them with local currency itself, at local-prices-less-taxes. You also frequently get 'special' offers and 'extra' discounts - plus a much wider choice as well. These will all help conserve the foreign exchange that you have.
When you buy in the plane itself, the prices will be based on those prevailing in the air-carrier's country - which are usually much higher than in the Philippines. The available choices will also be rather limited - and be of the pricey type. And you will have to pay for them in either US Dollars, British Pounds, or Euros. These might turn out to be a major drain on the limited foreign exchange that you will have. |

it depends on what you're shopping for. Prices on board the aircraft are usually lower than that in the lobby, but the variety and availability of products is much better in the lobby. |

Better if you buy it at the airport lobby. Some shops offers souvenir items and choose whatever you like. |

i prefer airport lobby. prices on the plane are higher than on the shops at the airports. plus there are many options.
my sisters jokingly commented on our last travel that the reason why prices are higher on the plane because you are up there, so prices go up too! unless you wanna go down and use a parachute during travel time... lol!!! |

This would depend on whether you are arriving or departing from NAIA.
Upon arrival at NAIA the best thing to do always is to make sure you get to the Immigrations and Luggage pick up counter immediately to avoid a longer line wait. The best thing here to do is either to buy DF goods on the plane or better yet at the Duty free fiesta shop right outside the airport.
Upon departure, buying at the duty free shops before you head for your gate is the smart thing to do. |

I think in the plane because it's much convenient and hassle free. Though the prices may vary but the gift is from the plane itself that makes it special! |
