No its insanely wrong!!
I've been given the trick to count dollars into pennies when converting dollar to yen.
Ex. 100yen "pennies" =1dollar
500yen= 5dollars
1000yen = 10dollars
5000yen=50 dollars
etc.
Keep in mind the dollar is doing poorly. This is a rough guideline to convert dollar into yen. The dollar could be more or less depending on ours and japans economy. |

hun, let me clear your confusion. if you think like this it's easy. forget about the friggin decimals. it's as plain as this.
1 cent = 1 yen
so,
100 cents (1 dollar) = 100 yen
There, this is the 100 point answer. I settle with 10 pts, thanks. |

No. 100 yen is one dollar. 1000 yen is 10 dollars.
They both still have the same purchasing power though and that's what's important |

So under your theory, the value of a penny is multiplied by 100, but the value of a $100 is only multiplied by ten. Would that not encourage everyone to carry bags of pennies into Japan.
It would also seem then that for 1000 pennies ($10), you could buy a $100,000 car. Your friend is wrong. |

Short answer. No. A penny can't become a dollar under any circumstances. A penny is a penny and a dollar is a dollar. Makes sense if you think about it.
Long answer. Try some math. One penny equals 1 dollar. (Well, at least in some minds.) That's a value increase of 100 times. So $100. Multiply that by 100. You get $10,000.
It not only isn't true, but you can't seem to handle simple math.
I guess I could have been nicer about this, but some things, well, people just need to think.
Do I get the 10 points?????? |

1 US Dollar = 105.969 Japanese Yen
1 Japanese Yen = 0.009440 US Dollar
That is about right but it doesn't really matter because most everything in Japan is expensive in comparison to the American standard of living. |

nop, actually $ 1 dollar is a 105 yen. a $ 1000 dollars is 105.876 yean
I live in Japan if you are coming to Tokyo... unless you have a free place to stay it will cost you more than a $ 1000 dollars.... i.e., hostel cost ranges from 20 to 30 dollars a night, which is ok, but food at least 30 dollars a day (and that is eating cheap it could be so much more if you include drinks), transportation is very expensive, since you are comming to Tokyo maybe 10 to 20 dollars (or more) a day for transportation, and if you want to go to Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima, Kyoto, well shinkansen (bullet train) is very expensensive.... although since you are coming as a tourist, you can pay a japan rail pass for a week that gives you the chance to ride the shinkansen for a week.
good luck! |

Um...what? One penny does not equal one en (yen). I would suggest watching the exchange rate to get the exact difference...but that isn't it at all.
If you're asking that 100 yen is actually 1 dollar, then you're closer. It's around like 104 yen to one dollar.
100 US dollars = 10,000 yen (about)
Emily, you're retarded. Japan isn't poor by any means. |

no, different countries have different exchange rates. right now in china 1 US dollar is worth 6.8yuan, while the Euro is worth 10.9 |
|

Kayla
|
Yes, that sounds about right.
And it's because of our government.
We are pretty much at the top of the world right now.
Little countries, especially in asia, and africa are at the bottom, and one dollar in our country , is like thousands of dollars there.
For a spanish project, i had to figure out that for one tenth of a cent in US dollar, you could buy a burger from McDonalds. So that says how poor that country was.
Kay, hope i helped. |

cherrychapstick
|
Yeah, kind of. 1 penny is worth about 1 japanese yen. But 100 US dollars is worth 10,000 yen, not 1,000. So basically our money is about 100 times stronger. I know that's not the correct way to say that, but you know what I mean. |
