no, not puppies. but the older ones. there is a place here that eats dog meat. i think it's somewhere up north. im not sure if it's baguio but i know it's somewhere north where it's cold. they have been doing that way before those animal rights groups were around. they say that dog meat gives off heat which they need where they're living in. it is part of their culture. and they usually eat them for special occasions ONLY. what may have happened is that those who were invited to eat in feasts probably thought that it was delicious and decided to do it in the lowlands. |

Dog meat is a delicacy in the Cordillera Region (mountain region in the Luzon Island) and is said to be part of their culture. However it is not prevalent or common practice through out the Philippines. In fact there are laws against eating dog meat hence it is not publicly sold in the market. Most are sold discreetly or when asked about it. There have been several arrests but the Police in the Cordillera region are not cooperating as they themselves are known to eat such meat. As I have said it is a cultural thing. Dog meat is known as an aphrodisiac as it warms up your blood temperature.
For your additional information, dog meat is also a delicacy in South Korea and if I am not mistaken, it is sold in public.
By the way, I do not eat dog meat and I love my 3 dogs. My hometown in Cagayan de Oro recently honored a Pit Bull for saving his owners from a snake. Unfortunately the dog died from the snake bite. Check this website blog at

Yes. They also eat pet fish, pet birds, and when they come out at night, they'll eat your llamas.
Of course not, silly. Some do eat full grown wild dogs though. |

puppies really wouldn't yield much meat.
I'd try it. It would make better livestock than cattle, in my opinion. |

Dog meat is eaten not only by the hill tribes but also by city dwellers.
It is often eaten during drinking sessions by the males (this is one reason why I will only drink by myself).
As a Westerner this revolts me BUT I do eat lamb, beef and pork and all three revolt many other cultures.
It all boils down to what you are used to eating and what you have been taught to accept as food.
In Western culture we are taught that dogs and cats (which are also eaten by some) are "a man's best friend." No one eats their friend.
Turkey is eaten in the Phils otherwise why would people raise them in the Provinces?

AS FOR PUPPIES I DON'T THINK SO--NOT ENOUGH MEAT. |

People of the Philippines, especially in the cities, as a general rule, do not at all eat puppies or dogs.
However, hilltribes in the north Philippines do eat dogs, but not puppies. Dog meat is called "asosena" and is eaten because of the lack of enough beef or pork.
And it's not only in the Philippines were dog meat ios eaten - it is virtually done in the entire Southeast Asia, like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the rest SE Asian countries. |

Why would anybody eat a puppy? There is not enough meat to make it worth it.
I would say, no, people in the Philippines do not eat puppies. |

Not everybody in the Philippines eat dog meat, not puppies. They don't eat it alive either, they cook it in a manner similar to how pork is cooked. I think I've tasted it once when I was a kid, when neighbors who are on a drinking spree cooked dog meat of some sort.
Lately, because of lobbyist of animal rights, it is considered an illegal act. |
