Well, no one can possibly know what exactly is going to happen just as nothing is certain in this world. That could be just a prediction and predictions are just probable estimate of future occurences. While it can be known where such an event is likely to happen by geological study, there is no reliable way yet to predict the exact time and date when an earthquake will occur in any specific location. It's best to be prepared at all times and know what to do before, during and after an earthquake occurs.

It is a possibility some Geologists have been studding the tectonics of the plates. They were moving at a constant rate ending on this date. Probability more than average, but not for sure. I have heard that and it is a reliable source.

....so check a reliable source first before you do panic buying, panic bank withdrawal, last-minute travel......

Earthquakes are a every day occurence in The Philippines. There are a few a day and, most of the time, you don't even feel them.
I lived in The Philippines several years and never had a problem with earthquakes. On the other hand, when they have typhoons they are really destructive ones in general but not necessarely over the whole country.
Be positive! Anyway, when your time has come, your time has come! You won't be able to change that which doesn't mean you have to put yourself in harm's way.
I wouldn't worry if I were you. I think it is simply superstition : check out the digits in your date.....all 8s. Doesn't this mean the eternal beginning, the wheel of life? I wouldn't worry.

Earthquakes are unpredictable and they happen everyday and we just can't feel it. Always pray and make the most of your life!

I believe the Philippines experiences many earthquakes every single day, many too small to notice.

So yes there will be an earthquake on July 18, 2008 in many parts of the Philippines. But I do not think that it will be in the magnitude of 8 something on whatever scale we are using.

The probability that there will be a huge earthquake today, tomorrow, the next day of for that matter any day in the month of July happening in the Philippines will be the same, so it can happen today or next week. There is no need to panic & believe that it will happen exactly on July the 18th.

Was it from a reliable source? Yes, these things are predictable ahead of time but it could be someone pulling your leg.
