No need to ask...the Philippines is one of the beautiful countries in the world and has so many beautiful sites to see. Many foreigners love to settle in the country because of its warm climate, its friendly people and, of course, its beautiful spots like the many beaches and resorts, the historical places and sights which are a must-see and the mountains, ravines, caves and waterfalls. |

Dear Jommoj, the main reason why many tourists decide to turn into permanent residents of the Philippines is NOT its beautiful locales, and low costs of living - but its Filipinas, who have truly beautiful minds that perfectly match their beautiful figures !

Yes that is true. Filipinos are known to be very hospitable. I know of several who stayed and loved the fact that the places where they are are serene and scenic. And of course, a whole lot cheaper. And if it matters, Philippines is reasonably updated in terms of modern technology =) |

I think that Yak Rider and Snvffy are closer to the mark.
The exchange rate and the low cost of living would play a major role in their decision.
Of course the beauty of the Philippines (provinces and small cities) and the friendliness of the local population certainly helps. |

low cost
warm weather
decent place
most, philippines is like a "melting pot"foreign looking people are not much given so much attention now, thus privacy from onlookers guaranteed, unless one looks like a movie star. |

Chances are it's because of the exchange rate. Living in the Phils is extremely cheap for an American or European. |

That's part of the reason, plus the Philippine Govt. changed the law to where you can stay here up to 2 years on tourist extensions on your passport.
I know the main reason is the exchange rate and way cheaper cost of living here. |

Yak Rider

No, I would not say that at all. I'd say the primary reason is the low cost of living. |
