Fur coat... It may be considered weird to wear a fur coat along the streets but mostly that's because the coldest it ever gets in Manila is just a little below 24 degrees Celsius (that's about 76 degrees Fahrenheit). This is during December to January, the "coldest season" of theyear. Most of the day its at an average of 32 C (more than 90 F).

In Baguio (northern part of the Philippines) the lowest temperature we have now is at 13 degrees Celsius (56 degrees Fahrenheit) but that's only during the night and early hours of the morning. It then rises to 22 C (72 F) at noon.

But if you're just wearing a fur coat to posh malls like Rockwell Power Plant, Podium, and Greenbelt, well then you'll fit right in. Same goes for bars and clubs like Mbassy. Shrug off the coat when you hit the streets though else you'll be sweating buckets.

Gloves... same comment as above. Additional comment on gloves: these look good if you're driving your own car. Just make sure it's a really nice car or else it might ruin the effect.

Huge glasses... I'm such a fan of! Always loved aviator glasses and I'm glad big glasses like that are back in style. Really good especially in sunny, sunny Philippines.

High heels... they never go out of style. You can pair them up with jeans or a skirt, formal or informal attire. But it would also depend on the occasion or where you're going. Like say, you can't go to the gym in heels. (lol) And you can't wear them when trudging the cracked and hazardous sidewalks of the city. Nice if you're just taking a stroll in the mall or you're in a good cafe/hotel/restaurant/club to show off those flattering figure-slimming pumps.

We don't have Winter, it's just rain or shine, but mostly hot hot sunshine from where I cam from. We wear high heels on formal events, but I guess we don't in regular basis coz we're not used to it.

fur coat - a big NO NO, you'll get sweaty and smelly. EeWw..
gloves - for laborers who deal with filth i guess
huge glasses - YES for fashion purposes
high heels - POSSIBLE if you'll plan to stay indoors

Good Luck..

Fur Coat- It's too hot to wear one! You won't need it the whole year round in the Philippines.
Gloves- Same as the fur coat unless you want to play golf. Or unless you're into motocross or car racing.
Huge glasses- no problem with that.
High Heels- no problem with that! I see a lot of people wearing high heels. And mind you, people wear flats cause it's more comfy wearing em, and not cause the floor is dirt.

That's A Lot of Nonsense

unless you are a japayuki on sabbatical from prostitution and you're hanging out back home to show off all your 'hard' work, yeah it'll be alright. people will just say, 'oh she's a paka on vacation.' hehehe...

Anyone who would dare wear a fur coat and gloves in the Philippines whether you're out or inside would get a snicker behind her back for the simple reason that people are sometimes unforgiving to people's faux pas.

As for the huge glasses and high heels, it's pretty much all right. I myself do wear high heels especially in the office but I can understand women who would opt for flats instead for the simple reason that it's more comfortable and healthy for the legs and the feet.

prettyrose26
actually..., i really don't recommend the fur coat, gloves and huge glasses because it is so hot in the Philippines and you don't really need that... But the high heels are fine because I sometimes wear them..., ü

fur coat and gloves? definitely weird especially when the temperature is at 35 deg celcius! high heels? well i guess most Filipinas are not comfortable in that. besides what can you get with high heels? varicose veins right? and, there's also cemented walks in the Philippines.

tennisgurl
You wouldn't want to wear fur coat and gloves, it's very hot and humid in the Philippines. As for huge glasses? I guess it's okay..and for high heels, I think it depends if your going to a formal place but it wouldn't be comfortable if your going to walk long distances.

Philippines is not that cold so don't bother to bring that things like fur coat,gloves..huge glasses and high heels are ok..there are lots of filipina wearing that here..

Ray H
The Philippines does not get cold . The coldest it will get is in Bagiou , and all you need is a sweater . High heels are worn only on special occasions or for going out on th town.

i go loony
oh my.. considered cold maybe in your area but hey, the Philippines is still hot. You might be laughed at.

Anyway, I am from Baguio and I see people wearing such things like this especially that fur-coat thing because in months like December or January, it gets to be as cold as the weather between fall and winter....

Well, Kalawa is wrong. The coldest in the Philipines to be recorded was not 13 degrees. It was 6 degrees and was recorded to happen in the 1960's...

In Baguio, 13 degrees celsius is just the average temp in Baguio in the month of January.

Hey, even Annie r is wrong. We just don't need a sweater. Sometimes, you have to wear more than one sweater and sleep with two blankets. I repeat, 13 deg celsius is not the coldest ever recorded. This place can be as cold as 9 degrees.

Going north, you'd experience the coldest which is in Atok trail somewhere in Benguet . Baguio is not the second coldest place next to Atok or Buguias, Benguet. Sagada, a town in Mountain Province is even colder than Baguio.

To all know-it-alls about Baguio, stop the crap. I am from this place and I know this place more than you do,

No, its perfectly normal, most people in the Philippines cannot afford your luxuries. No, the roads are well paved and you can walk barefoot without dirtying your feet.

Come June/July, it will be freezing coldthere, thats the best time to flaunt yourself in the bz bz streets.

Yeah. I dont think even the supermodels wear that at the catwalk. I think the coldest the Philippines ever got was 13 degrees in the province Baguio. Philippine girls wear flats because it's much easier to put on and wont make bruises on their feet.

yes it weird. lol! if people saw u wearing a fur coat and gloves they would be all confused cuz it's so hot in the Philippines... it's like your a pig that's being roasted. lol! but i think the huge glasses wont look weird cuz its like the new style.

Dave Star
It's not really cold, it's more of a hot spring so Fur Coat is a no-no.
