No. I love our country but I do not love Pres. Arroyo. It's like job. Some people love their job but not the boss. If only they can make sipa (kick) their butt. Wait. I don't want to do that to Arroyo. I'm just not a fan.

Absolutely not! Do you love your country? Are you loyal to GMA? Were you loyal to Marcos?

OK - let's put it another way... Assuming you love your country, you now have a president GMA. When she is gone, you will have someone else. Maybe someone who will bring Philippines to glory and fame... or maybe Joc Joc Bolante (if he returns). Does the one president demand the same kind of loyalty as the other?

Love for country is the greatest love you can have for humanity, a little lower than God's love that is. You can love your country WITHOUT loving the President. He or she may represent the nation you're in but your feelings towards her is simply independent from your patriotism. Loving the nation she represents is way way far from loving her.

Just give her what she deserves, if you think she deserves your love, so be it, if not, Love your country anyway...

Loyalty to the president has nothing to do with love for country.
Presidents may be wrong at times and if you are in a position to do something which is good for the country, you surely should.

In the Philippines, I know a lot of Filipinos are very proud and very happy of their history and culture. However, Gloria Arroyo is quite unpopular. At least she was the last time I heard about her.

No. One can love his country but is not loyal to the president. Love for country is being patriotic or nationalistic; willing to die for one's country, so to speak. Loyalty, on the other hand, is a feeling or attitude of devoted attachment and affection to a person.

NO! love for country is never about loyalties to individuals. you give the president due respect (because of the position) but you don't give your life for the president (unless you're in the secret service) but you do give your life for your country.

A person can love their country & not their president. I voted republican in 1992 & Clinton still made it into office. I can't say as I was that "loyal" to him (especially after Lewinsky), but I sure as hell love America & I would die for my country if need be, even if it was under Clintion's time in office.

Purely different, country means the place/laws where live and obeyed respectively while president installed by the majority people living in a certain country just to lead with limited term.

The minority or opposition, they love the country but they are oppose or not loyal to the President.
