Nah, I can't stand all the LAHs at the end.
Indians speak better English even with the thick accent. |

Its definitely not cool...It is however apart of every Singaporean. But it should just remain as a 'colloquialism' or 'slang' rather than a language of its own like 'singlish'. The 'lahs' and 'wah lous' and what not gets on my nerves at times especially when my boss uses them during meetings...Ive been living in singapore for 5 yrs, i use the 'lah' only only when im kidding around with my singaporean friends but other than that, i'd rather stick to good old english. |

Yes. Only in Singapore.
But a Singaporean must learn how to speak at least, the standard acceptable accent and spoken English, outside. |

Yeah, cause no one else in the world except for Singaporeans can speak Singlish. |

Singlish, the local broken English commonly spoken by Singaporeans.
Yes, it is cool to speak using Singlish, but I do not recommend it. This is because people from UK or US don't understand Singlish.
Singlish is not proper English. Students are also not allowed to use Singlish in examination. |

I wanna be rich!

No. It's really embarassing if people from the UK or wherever place where it's inhabitants speak perfect English hear it. They may think that Singapore does not emphasise on speaking good English. Think about it. Don't you feel embarassed? |

No,not at all!
Just learn the correct way of speaking english. That would be cool instead, So, interact with people with the right kind of english so apart from you are learning the right kind ,you as well won't be conscious if you are communicating in singlish or the normal english. |

well, i wouldnt say that it is cool
but it is quite fun to use.
well, as long as we know when to use singlish and when we can't use it, then it's perfectly alright. |

Only among Singaporeans, esp when on holidays and strangers meet. Just two or three words in Singlish and we know the origin of that person.
However we must not forget to polish up the more standard version of English with correct tenses, sentence structure and other aspects of grammar. Else we kill the language in the eyes of those who speak it beautifully and correctly, locals or foreigners and the reaction is one of repulsion. Be quick to switch from Singlish to proper English, as the occasion demands. |

Of course it is!
It is a great way to communicate with friends and family.
Of course, one should learn how to codeswitch effectively and speak Standard Singapore English during formal situations and Singlish during less formal ones. |
