It's absolutely true. We were 16 and so in love when her parents had to move over 2000 miles away. It hurt like someone had just blown a hole in my stomach. I cut a locket of her hair so I could still smell her perfume after she left. Eventually the perfume wore off and I met another girl but it was never as true as my first love Pamela Jean. I am 53 now, and their is not a day goes by that I don't think about this beautiful little gal with her Southern accent , million dollar smile and the softest, longest brown hair all the way down to her waistline. She will always be in my heart. I wish fate would have put us together again but I must not have been in the right place at the right time.

Yes, I believe that first love stays with you forever and while maybe not as strong or in the forefront is there lurking your whole life...

A very complex statement....First.....there are different answers depending on your gender. Men have a different approch to love or sex than women.
Second.... The love we had for that first person never dies.....but that person no longer exists. We ALL change everyday.....you are not the same person you were yesterday .....and you will be a different person tomorrow .
Your first love is a different person than they were ....
Third..... Our memory alters the reality.....the negatives fade and the positives enhance..... our first love becomes "better' than it was in reality..
But as Thomas Wolfe said....." You can not go home again"......which means when we try to revisit the past we are invariably disappointed.

In my case, YES. I recently saw my first love after close to 20 years...she is married with kids and we had lunch with the blessing of her husband (her second, and a really great understanding guy) and I have to tell you it was ALL still there. She told me she felt the same over the phone after we said "goodbye"...it was powerful, if I had to see her every day I'm not sure I could deal with it...

sunriser1225
yes, i have experience it and the truth is until now i can felt her presence if i think about her.!!

I do believe in "I remember the boy but I don't remember the feelings anymore...

Yes I believe that your first love will never die..... My gf right now was my first love but she did not become my gf for a few years and I still loved her even though we were not bf and gf yet...... Now we just laugh about it and say stuff like you were my first love and only love....... So yes I think that your first love never dies...... Hope this answers your question.....

For me it's just memories. The love of my life is my wife. She is my partner and best friend through life. Loving someone at 16,17 or 18 is not the same as when you are an adult.

Country lover
I dont think so. I fell in love so many times that I forget who the first one is.

The only one I still remember is the first one I slept with.

I am glad you ask that interesting question. I believe its true, In my older age (62), I am constantly reminded about that someone special.

joy emz
it depends on the persons belief..for me it works..until now I'm still in love to my first love even though i already have a husband..i,m still longing for his hugs and kisses..

Now, I don't love the person whom I loved first but since I met him, there has never been a day without some thought s of him.. I don't know why but I don't call it love now.... And it's been 12 years... and the last time I saw him was the month of May in 2000

It dies if you find real last love experience.

if a person strongly believes this then yes

In the sense that first love will NEVER be forgotten, yes it's true. But for the embers of first love to continue burning forever....hmmm, I don't think so. I hope not. Otherwise, this becomes a fallacy - love is lovelier the 2nd (3rd, nth) time around.

The One That Got Away
Well, I ended up marrying my middle school sweetheart. I know that's young to be in love... but I always told everyone that I was going to marry him. We had boyfriends/girlfriends in-between... but, we came back to eachother in the end.

yeah..my first love literally died on me. It was a 7 year relationship and it's not so much that i try to find men that remind me of him since but I try to find one that'll love me as much as he did. It was awesome while it lasted so it never goes forgotten
