DS

Is this common for a Philipina to say?

My Philipina sweetheart recently told me "Mahal na mahal kita." I read that this is not common for a Philipina to say to a man, that the man has to be very special for her to say this. Is this true, or is it something that would be common to say to a man?

it's is very true, filipinas do have a hard time realizing their true feelings and when they do, they give everythign to the person they love. they say mahal na mahal kita as a way of saying that "i am willing to give all of me to you." you are so lucky to have been told that especailly coming from a filipina, and she used her native tongue to show you adn to let you know how much you mean to her.

Congrats DS !
You should be in 'seventh heaven' now - as you have reached the 'Level 7' [ultimate height] in your love life.
Best of Luck to you both !
:-))

Bail out BS
Lucky Devil you are DS...When they say it they do mean it, don't ever forget that and don't you break her heart....:-)

MAGpie
you can call yourself lucky. Some of us get really shy saying these words to those we love. we'd rather show it.

luosechi 駱士基
No it's not common at all, unless she really loves you. You already know what mahal kita means. Mahal na mahal kita is much more - I would translate it something like "Love of my life, I love you."
Psst - What you should say is Mahal na mahal din kita.

You lucky sonuvagun! What'd you do? What love potion did you put in her drink? (Joke only)

I say "Congratulations" are in order. That line is given by a girl only to her true love. Usually, this is a once in a lifetime utterance by a female of my race.

Filipinas mean what they say. Filipinos would also say the same. The question of the men meaning it is questionable.

when we say just I love you, it might be not that strong but when we say "Mahal na mahal kita" it's a superior way of saying it..congrats she loves you a lot! (to the highest level)

goofygoober
u really have to mean it to say it!

Juan C
if you can feel it, while she tells you those very precious words, she really means it...

Yes that's true. When we truly love someone, we say it as often as possible to express our true feelings.

plane
dude, you will feel it if she is sincere. her actions will speak. too bad, i havent heard those words from the girl i like.. you're one lucky guy

ah, the words one longs to hear from the person he/she adores..those are heavy words. especially using Mahal two times.

i don't even use it on a guy friend. even if its a joke or something. cause its some pretty serious stuff : )

red apple
"mahal na mahal kita" simply means "i love you so much"... indeed, you must be someone really special to her considering that she said it in her native tongue. that must really be coming from her heart.

leydii
yes i agree with the first answer, we don't say those words unless we really mean it

saying such words mean a lot especially to a girl. sincerity wise?? gesture is probably you have to consider. it's hard to define the true colors.

kalbo
as her meal ticket to america, you are very special to her, believe you me.
