it's is very true, filipinas do have a hard time realizing their true feelings and when they do, they give everythign to the person they love. they say mahal na mahal kita as a way of saying that "i am willing to give all of me to you." you are so lucky to have been told that especailly coming from a filipina, and she used her native tongue to show you adn to let you know how much you mean to her. |

you can call yourself lucky. Some of us get really shy saying these words to those we love. we'd rather show it. |

No it's not common at all, unless she really loves you. You already know what mahal kita means. Mahal na mahal kita is much more - I would translate it something like "Love of my life, I love you."
Psst - What you should say is Mahal na mahal din kita. |

You lucky sonuvagun! What'd you do? What love potion did you put in her drink? (Joke only)
I say "Congratulations" are in order. That line is given by a girl only to her true love. Usually, this is a once in a lifetime utterance by a female of my race. |

Filipinas mean what they say. Filipinos would also say the same. The question of the men meaning it is questionable. |

when we say just I love you, it might be not that strong but when we say "Mahal na mahal kita" it's a superior way of saying it..congrats she loves you a lot! (to the highest level) |

ah, the words one longs to hear from the person he/she adores..those are heavy words. especially using Mahal two times.
i don't even use it on a guy friend. even if its a joke or something. cause its some pretty serious stuff : ) |

"mahal na mahal kita" simply means "i love you so much"... indeed, you must be someone really special to her considering that she said it in her native tongue. that must really be coming from her heart. |

yes i agree with the first answer, we don't say those words unless we really mean it |
