No, they will give you a strange look. Please don't spread this habit into Malaysia, otherwise you will make it difficult for the locals, really. Not everyone can afford giving extra few ringgit each time he eats or uses taxi or any other service. The 10% service surcharge mentioned is common for restaurants like Pizza Hut but not for Malaysian restaurants. |

Tipping is not a must. if you are in hotel you can give as low as RM 1. how much is depends on you.
In a restaurant, take back you paper notes and leave the small change behind, that will be less than RM 1 |

In Malaysia's culture, if you give tips to anyone who gave a good service is most welcome.
But this shouldn't be made into a cultural habit for it might tarnished the image of the employer who hires them...remember service above self! |

I usually tip RM5 to RM10 on taxi drivers, bellboys, & housekeeping. Same amount goes for waiters as there is already a 10% service charge. |

Tipping is always welcomed anywhere. In Malaysia, it is not really expected specially if you see a Service Charge on the bill. However, tip 10% if you want to whenever there is no service charge on the bill.Good luck and go to BINTANG Walk for a beer! |

it's how much you can afford to give. in restaurants 10 percent of the bill is okay. |

No, not really. Most often than not, you are already paying the service charge of 5 to 10%. There's no point tipping over what's already tipped. |

When you dine out in the restaurant, you will notice from the bill that they will charge you about 5 - 10% of service charge. So, you don't have to give them any tip. |

No such practice for voluntary tips.
Compulsary tips we have a lot e.g. when you eat at a presentable restaurant the comp. tips is
a) 10% sales tips
b) 5% service tips
Anyway, don't get the message wrong, these comp. tips (tax indeed) are meant for the government, not the waiter etc. |
