Japan and China?

Which culture and history would you prefer or like most and why? Do you also notice some similarities in them?

Obviously Chinese culture.

Japanese culture immitated or borrowed much from the Chinese culture and modified much to become the "Japanese" culture through time.

Chinese culutre has almost 6000 years of history and had much much inventions that contributed to the humankind to this day.

The Chinese history and culture is older and more extensive, therefore, more interesting.
The Japanese has been more controlled and more refined and is, therefore, particularly worthy of study.

I'm a chinese but I prefer the Japanese culture and yes, they are similar to each other! In fact, they have a lot of similarities. Firstly, most of the Japanese Kranji characters are derived from Chinese characters. This shows that China and Japan are connected with each other, somehow or another way back in history. Many of the Japanese traditional beliefs are also similar to the Chinese's beliefs. In addition, some Japanese sayings are derived from or similar to the Chinese's sayings. Both also share the same religion. Majority of Japanese and Chinese are buddists. Furthermore, if you have been to the countryside of Japan and China, you'll notice that the structure of the temples are similar to each other.

As for history, there is no denying that China has a richer history and that in the past, China is often seen as a threat to many countries including Japan, Korea etc because of it's vast lands.

On a personal scale, I prefer Japan's culture and history even though I'm chinese. I love the kimonos and the clogs!

If you just talk about history, I think China is more interesting because the country covers a larger area with more things happening. China also had more interaction with the world than Japan in the past.

I'm a Chinese and I prefer Chinese culture, I studied in Tokyo and I speak Japanese too. I like Japanese food but I love Chinese food. I love Chinese culture a lot more.

Well, there is nowhere better than HOME.
The more I know about Chinese history, art (in different forms) the more I'm proud of being a Chinese. We invented so many things in the past.

Geographically, Japan and China is quite near, certainly there a lot of similarities between Chinese and Japanese cultures, the Chinese characters "Kanji" in Japanese were all originate from Traditional Chinese characters. Green tea, tofu were orignated from China as well as the "miso paste" and soy sauce. Even the town planning of Kyoto is very similar (a copy of) to the ancient capital city of Tang Dysnaty Chang An - now known as "Xian".

I believe, the Japanese would say that they like Japanese culture more!

China have to compete with Japan on the natural environment first, food second. If the chinese natural environment and food keep like this.Chinese people will and can not be smart enough to compete with Japan.
These two sections make a person smart and strong.Only strong people know and understand better how to keep their good culture and have their own culture show best to other countries' people.
In fact, the chinese people's culture is much better than Japan's.And far more deep and beautiful culture history. But the pity is that the modern chinese people have too many problems with them.

Japan. Knowing the fact that China's poverty rate back then was more than half the population. (Also, Japan produces reliabe, safe, durable products.)

I prefer China. Probably because I live here. The changes here are very exciting. But then perhaps it's because I prefer China that I live here...

There are some similarities, in language and culture. Japanese kanji is based on Chinese, after all. It does seem to me that Japanese society is more rigid and formalized than Chinese culture, in ways that I would find difficult. (For example, formal language that requires that women are subservient to men. Yuck.)

Ancient China, and ancient Japan are fascinating. I think the Japanese may have done a better job of preservation. For example, some of the best preserved artifacts reflecting China's Tang dynasty are in Japan, where it had a great influence. They were able to preserve it more completely -- in China much was lost due to subsequent dynastic waves.

In any event, both are very different from the US, where I am from. It's all I can do to get my head around China, much less Japan... LOL! That will have to be someone else's job...

I like the history of Yuan dynasty and Qing dynasty.
These are not Han Chninese's dynasty, however, I feel lots of power in those history.

By the way, leave Japan alone. Why Chinese and Koreans compare them with Japan? China, go your own way. Japan goes.

And one more thing. HK should go independent from Gaocuo China before 2046. Their culture is very different from main land China. They are loosing their bright light under China.

Truman was stupid. The U. S. must have nuclear-bombed PRC to make world safer.
Japan or China?
Japan fought a war with the U.S. in the past, but now it is one of the most friendly nation with the U.S.

During the WWII, the U.S. supported China, but now they are exporting dangerous food products to the U.S.

So, what is the answer? JAPAN!
