Malaysia is not safe to go on tour, my friend said are they right? |
The media's said - the majorities are treating the minority people in malaysia very badly. Now a big riot and chaos is going on, so their could be a high possiblity for civil war like CEYLON,FIJI..so my friend suggest not to GO ON TOUR TO MALAYSIA.. |

Most travelers comment on the friendliness and hospitality of Malaysians. It really is exceptional.
Malaysia is not only friendly, it is one of the safest countries worldwide and absolutely safe to travel to any part of the country.
Even though Malaysia is relatively safe, the only crime-free place is heaven, so here are things to watch:
STREET CRIME: It has begun to grow in the big, particularly in tourist areas: pickpockets and bag-snatchers. Defense is the same anywhere: wear your purse/bag strap over your chest (not just dangling from your shoulder) and hold your bag close.(read more on street crimes)
Women travelers should be sensitive to local customs and attitudes.
You must answer this question to fit your personal tolerance for risk. If you believe the statistics and look at it rationally, you’ll probably go. If you’re going to worry about safety a lot while you’re there, the worry may make your trip less pleasant, and so you probably shouldn’t go. |

it is better that you wait until after the general election in Malaysia. It is advisable and wise to do so.
Ever since the umno government (current gov.) announced that the latest protest made by Hindraf group having link/s with international terrorist groups, most of us from the Oppositions thinks that the umno government and our police might take advantage of whatever situation .
It will be a sad day if some foreigner is/are accuse of coming to Malaysia to helps the Hindraf group or/and to accuse foreign elements against ISA ( internal security act that imprisons any person/s without going to court )
There are nearly 200 countries(might be more or might be less) in the world.I am sure your trip to Malaysia can wait.
***unlikely there will be a civil war, most likely to have unrest and more protest. But then why take the risk?
Best is to update yourself and those intending to come to Malaysia please do read the travel alert/travel advisory news from the US embassy website. |

high possibility of civil war... where did you get that one??? ok there were a couple of riots recently, but tell me of any country in the world where such things do not happen! And the riots - demonstrations really that turned a bit heaty - were in very restricted areas and organised by minorities which are far, very far away from inciting a civil war. Don't worry, Malaysia remains politically stable (for outsiders), extremely safe for travellers and in the near total majority of Malaysian minds, where hospitality is a time honoured social obligation, travellers are always welcome as friends! Try it out, come and see for yourself! |

If the news is true, then where on earth our dear friends in YA managed to sit in comfort to answer your questions...
Maybe your friend have heard some news about the recent riots but it is considered a small scale one. Just be more careful when you are in Malaysia, especially when you see crowds carrying banners. |

Malaysia Is a Peaceful, High Tech Muslim State!
Compared to the rest of the world Malaysia is a peaceful country. The people are focused on living a peaceful life in harmony with each other. As Malaysia is a relatively prosperous country with a low unemployment rate there is little need for civil war or unrest. There are also strict government controls to ensure this. Although this might be defined as a curtail of freedom of action in the long run it has helped Malaysia to prosper.
Malaysia - The Ideal Destination
Area : 329,758 sq km
Population : 27 million
Capital : Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia is a peaceful country inhabited by a friendly, multi-ethnic people with English as its most widely spoken language. Other major languages include Malay, Chinese and Indian. It is politically stable and blessed with many natural resources. Combined with high-technology manufacturing, R & D and IT services centres, Malaysia has created a most stable environment for direct foreign investment and business dealings. It is strategically located in the heart of Southeast Asia, one of the world's fastest growing regions, with access to China, the largest Asian market.
With its world-class infrastructure, facilities and innovative programmes, Malaysia is the ideal destination and hence was chosen as host country for WCIT 2008. Malaysia has hosted a variety of world-class events such as Commonwealth Games, Formula One & Global Knowledge II (GKII).
I am proud to be born a Malaysian.
