I visited bataan earlier this year, and was reading the mural etched on the wall of the edifice in the Shrine Of Valor in Mt. Samat, I was indeed in great awe, on how many brave men had given up their lives for independence. Nakakakilabot to imagine that thousands of people sacrificed themselves for the freedom that we have today.
Pearl harbor also tells of a lot of similar sad stories. Sad stories that are truly worth knowing and remembering. |

My father was a war veteran, fought against the Japanese in World War 2. He often regaled us with stories of his exploits as a guerilla fighter.
We owe our lives to those fighters who took the line of resistance against the invading enemy so that we all can be free.

Alot of the older generation will appreciate the reminder but sadly most of the newer generations don't even know about the historic events that shaped their lives. I guess in a world where people focus more about the struggles of everyday living they forget how good they have things. I guess what one can only do now is live a life as best as possible in order not to follow down that road to war those many years ago. |
