This type of thing is my major problem with Filipinas. Asking for money for something reasonable, but asking for way more than it actually costs because she intends to spend the extra on food for her family, bills, cell phones, purses, jewelry, etc. Often there's a relative or friend encouraging such behavior. My wife tried this once and I confronted her on it and she hasn't done it since. It might be a sign of duplicity and greed, or simply a way of saving face from asking you for things she realizes are not vital, but wants to finally have some fun after being poor her whole life. I'd talk to her about the differences in culture, lying vs saving face, but give her the benefit of the doubt.

It sounds odd. Ask her for a breakdown of how exactly she intends to spend this money. And if you end up giving it to her, tell her you'll want to see the reciepts afterwards.

I am not sure if I understand the question. What is the travel allowance for. It could be so many things.
Perhaps a trip to Manila from one of the islands to the Embassy of your country?
Mostly they will not travel alone. If it's to meet you, then it will be your girlfriend and two chaperones.

There is no such thing. Having said that, if she is coming to see you in the UK, you should want her to have a few bucks in her pocket in case something goes wron she can at least get a cab from the airport or make a few calls etc.

Well, if you got flowery words from them don't give in right away. Because I happened to meet a guy who met a girl that's so malambing but then he's now the milking cow.... renovated the family's houses, bought big appliances, aircon and van. Well, despite all my warnings, the guy accused me of backb biting. Well, that's the only way I could repay his kindness to me... to warn him. But he won't listen. As a result we parted ways so as not to be dragged in doing such shameful activities.

I can't decipher the question? If your g/f i planning to travel abroad, maybe that's how much she needs to process her documents and airfare. But if she is asking for a travel allowance around the country, that is too much. Don't believe her.

Being that this is on the Philippine forum, Depends on long she is going to travel. If a short time sounds pretty high but being she is from the Philippines she probably has lots of relatives.
Personally I am looking for a virgin orphaned mute.
