Be polite to your costumers you have now because the nicer you are to them the more likely they are to reccomend to. Also establish connections with coworkers, friends, family, previous costumers too so they would go to you or reccomend people to you for whatever you are selling. Additionally create a persuasive, short, and polite sales pitch, and look polish.

Success in sales always begins in your head/heart. If you don't believe you can do it, nothing will happen.

With a positive mental outlook, you can then start to identify the gaps that are missing in your sales plans.

All the other stuff that the other answerers have suggested will then form part of your plan to make your sales plans. Sales is a challenging job but trust me, the experience will make you a better person and enhance your resume as long as you do things properly.

be very confident about what you are selling and beleive in the products yourself,offer promotions or incentives,money is tight just now,it will pick up ,summer is slow anyway.

Where I work at. Are sales are very low. People are saying its due to the gas. I would try offering a sale.

You haven't given us enough information to be helpful.
What are you selling?
Do you have a sales strategy in place?
Is the problem one of finding people who want what you are selling, or is the problem that you your price is higher than your competition, or is the problem that you make many contacts but cannot close on the deal?
If you are selling a product, can you show that you have superior after-purchase support for the product (like repair services, replacement parts, help for the user)?
If you are selling a service, have you clearly identified your target market, or are you spending too much time talking with people who aren't in your demographic?

No matter what you are selling, you must be sure that you have clearly identified your target market.
Then you must outline a strategy for reaching the people who have the authority to make the purchase.
You must have a coherent, persuasive sales pitch.
You must know how to close the deal.

keep existing customers, be nice to them. Or for those new customers impress them in various ways, etc if your selling insurance, treat your frens to a meal it sort of encourages them, and they would also intro more frens to you, therefore your sale will increase. Its about the people skills :D

Advertise a sign right infront of your better competition add things on your sign like,LOWER PRICES!! or FRIRNDLY SERVICES!!! it Depend on where you work.

you have to learn your product well and like your product. if you dont have these, quit what you are doing. are you doing advertaising. it works.

I have the same problem. You cant take no for an answer, and have to have a positive additude and be cheerful smiles are contagious - you must must must be confidence - people sense confidence in you and thats what makes a sale - also be knowlegeable of all your problems and be ready to answer any questions no matter how stupid - that was my big mistake - i was so knowlegable in the computer department but the department next to us was camaras and i knew nothing!!!! customers would come up to me and ask me questions on really busy days and i would be like idfk? so yeah also i flipped out on a couple of difficult customers which didn't help much lol but its not much of a drive if you dont work for commission but when my hours got less and less and i asked they said it was because of customer disatisfaction so i improved
