Contrary to the image of a 'used-car-salesman' the answer to your question is: "Honesty". People are nearly always smarter than we give them credit for. Most intuit true motives through our little nuances (which we ourselves are usually unaware of) and if your true motive is sincerity than they see that and will respond in the same manner and that allows for the trust which is what will improve your sales.

Here are my suggestions: (please note since i do not know the type of business you are in, the following are based from experiences)

1. Identifying your market/ is it based on age, is it seasonal, etc. who is buying your products?

2. Study your successful competitors (what are they doing differently than you, price, variety of your products, sales strategy)

3. if you have a physical store, then does your slow sales have anything to do with your location?

4. Advisement, do you think by doing advisement will improve your sales?

5. Sales, coupon, discount for customers ( I am assuming you've already done that?)

6 Last , but also most important. how is your customer service? are you and/or your staff knowledge and professional ? Response time?
