I have used both phones and find them both good in their own ways. It really depends on your NEEDS and sometimes budget.
Sony Ericsson or SE is basically a phone built for music lovers. Especially its W or walkman phone series, it has the best sound quality you can ever find in the market today. Do not expect fancy phone designs with SE. Their memory cards (M2, Memory Stick) are a bit difficult to find and are sometimes expensive. In terms of durability, SE is a delicate phone. If you are a rough or clumsy person, do not even think of buying this phone. User friendly? Yes, but if you got used to Nokia, you might need some adjustments as I have experienced.
If Samsung is known for its sleek black slide phones, Motorola for its razor thin phones, Sony Ericsson for its walkman phones, Nokia is like a "sari-sari" phone or a phone that has different models and choices. It does not have a clear identity to speak off. Nokia tries to find ways to out do its competitors by being "innovative" in its phone designs but honestly speaking, they are just copying designs from other phones. In terms of memory cards, Nokia basically uses SD or MMC card formats which is widely used and is therefore readily available. In terms of durability, well it is durable considering you can still see Nokia phones being sold in second hand markets. The downside of Nokia phones is its mass appeal. It is too common and therefore can be a bit boring.
Remember at the end of the day, always consider your needs. Do you really need this function? It is practical for this price? Durability also depends on your use. Even if Nokia phones are bit durable, but if you drag it like your old sneakers, surely it will wear down fast. |

I used to be a Nokia fan, then I tried the Sony Ericsson K750i and got blown away. I currently use the SE W850i and I'm totally in love with it.
I believe that the Nokia series have been really left behind style-wise. They're not the trend setting phones they used to be. I remember when the 3210 fist touched my hand and that day I swore an oath of allegiance to Nokia. But with these new fashion phones... eeewwwck!!!
And it's not true what a previous answerer said that Sony Ericsson phones hang a lot. Any phone would hang if you had it's net opened up by an unauthorized technician or if you buy it from a dubious shop. They often used corrupted pirated software. I dropped my SE K750i from the 3rd floor on a concrete sidewalk two months ago and all it got was a small crack and scratches, the phone worked as if nothing happened. Plus Sony Ericsson phones have the most reliable bluetooth connection I read on a phone review website.
I'd suggest you go get the SE W880i. You'll get blown away too, I guarantee it.
(Damn, Sony Ericsson should pay me for this ad.) |

I think Nokia Phones is best phone. Even older people can use it because it's user friendly and it doesn't break easily (depends on the model). |

You know what.. It really depends on your fancy.
If, let's say, you want it slim and slick. I don't think neither Nokia nor Ericsson can give that. But Motorola and Samsung can.
Name your budget, you preference, and your lifestyle (how you wanna use it - maybe use it underwater) then MAYBE you can get good answers. |

I'm a bit biased having worked for Sony Ericsson in the past. However, I'm using Motorola now and i like it too.
Sony Ericsson is more durable, you can drop it (except in water), and it does not get damaged. Both are user-friendly but if you're in the Philippines, everyone uses a Nokia so might as well be different. :-) It also depends on the features that are most important to you. If you want your phone to have a camera, go for Sony Ericsson. Technology-wise, Ericsson is ahead. |

For me, Nokia is more user-friendly...commands are easy to understand & follow..Sony Ericsson is a little complicated to use. But on the other hand, Nokia phones depreciates so fast. For instance, you just bought the latest model, in a few months time, its price will go down & then a new model will come up, better! |
