FYI: Christmas season just started today 25th December.
Traditionally speaking if you are familiar with the Christmas song 12 days of Christmas, the Christmas season ends on the 6th of January. But in recent years the Catholic faith changed it to every first Sunday of January. That is in celebrating the feast of the Epiphany otherwise known as the 3 kings. Meaning to say it'll end on the 4th of January 2009.
Christmas does not refer to Christmas day per se but Christmas season. The Christmas season is the shortest season of the Catholic faith.
But commercially speaking the Christmas season begins as early as the stores, shops and malls can think of. Many of which start selling Christmas decors like in the first week of September. While it ends in the evening of the 25th. The next day massive sale, clearances and specials with huge marked down prices attract customers from tomorrow. Hence they call it the end of Christmas.
To answer your query, personally the Christmas is not yet over. so tomorrow & in the coming days until the 4th Jan you can still greet Merry Christmas although most people will suggest that it's late or something simply because they are commercially align.
