If I were to answer this during my undergraduate days, I would have chosen to be a wise owl. But now, having been exposed to the corporate world, I would like to be a sly fox.
At lots of times in the corporate world, one does not have to be wise at all. To put up with the all the BS and the politics, one has to be sly, in fact, very sly to still be sane at the end of every working day. |

Horny, er, wise owl, rather.
There is a local myth connected with the owl, in one big firm I worked with in Manila.
We had a big site, a warehouse compound that looked like the MGM, or some other Hollywood Studio. And the workers caught an owl one day. Such an ugly creature with menacing eyes, and a beak that could open really wide, like a devouring python. And the women workers talked in whispers that rolled everywhere that it is a bad sign, that many people would either die or lose their jobs. The men who caught the bird did not listen, and kept it captive.
Only days after, the owners went for a lockout rather than permit the creation of a union, which is affiliated with a nationwide syndicate. An official of the union got shot and killed, and many lost their jobs before things settled down.
That's what I like about owls. Same thing am looking for in movies to watch. Everybody dies! |
