yes i do because its kinda habit. but when i see that the next person treats me as if it was my job to do so, i would let go as soon as they are half way in.
say i walked in and hold the door and the next person walks as though they dont care that you are holding the door for them or not. or maybe just carry on with there conversations... you know what i mean... yeah i let go when they're half way in... i act as if i was catching up with someone or someone called my attention. i just say sorry as a move away. ~(-_-)/~
sorry i kinda hate it too when people just treat you that way.... |

I always hold the door open when somebody is next to me or following me, most often when entering and exiting malls. But I don't say "you're welcome", I just smile. |

I do. Force of habit. Don't care if its a man or a woman, kid or not, disabled or not. |

I do but others don't and I'm pissed about that. it's not about returning the favor but about being polite.
I say thank you to the guards who often opens the doors for customers or whoever holds it open, and smile back if i'm the holding the door for them and they thank me(which seldom happens). it's not on the guards job description to hold doors for the customers.
when the crew greets you at the counter, you're supposed to say hi back or something, but majority of the people totally ignore that.

actually not.. i'm 19 and a Pinoy, i just got here in the US 4 months ago..
that's one thing that i've noticed from the people here in US.. in Philippines, we dont care who's going nxt through the door, we just open it for ourselves.. but back in the Philippines, if im with my family, relatives, or friends, i usually help them open the door especially when they need it and to the ladies of course.. |

it's odd though. I'm a pinoy but in our place , we practice that kind of etiquette but the thing is we do it to people we know or to the elderly. There are also other ways of showing your thoughtfulness to other not just this one. |
