She might have reason for doing so… as for me we need to be frank and sincere in a relationship. It is hard to guess what is in the other mind. I believe if the reason for not wanting to go back is due to various political issues and cultures in Malaysia then she will be more than willing to share with you. If you want to get married with a Malaysian, please mke sure you also register your marriage under Malaysian law or else your marriage will not be recognised in Malaysia. It can be done in Malaysian Embassy or High Commissioner… |

I don't know why she doesn't want to go back home, but I know many Malaysians 'look down' on their country/people once they have left.
As for 'just put-up a business there', well, I'm sorry to disappoint you but the maximum time allowed to run a business in Malaysia by a foreigner is 5 years, after that you would have to hand it over to a local.
Also after 5 years you would have to leave the country (Even if you are married) unless you can get 'PR' status (Which is virtually impossible) the only other way to stay there longer is to pay someone in the immigration department to get your passport stamped every 3 months with 'under the table money' (As I did) or cross the boarder every 3 months (And pay an ever increasing fee at the boarder check point)

Comparing California and Malaysia is like comparing Sweden cheese and the normal cheese we get in supermarkets.
Big difference.
I'm not saying my country isn't good enough,but in may ways Malaysia is still developing.
US's currency is bigger,people are friendlier,the food is different,job prospects are much much more wider...
Heck,given a chance,I'd choose California over Malaysia.
Maybe you've been living in your own country for a long time and you wouldn't mind a change but she sure doesn't and i totally understand her.
She might be thinking about her future family.Medical felicities are better in the US,education system is better there(we are still trying to choose whether to study in BM or English)..She wants the best for her future children and I believe they will thank her for that someday.
You see,Malaysia is still developing,we are still a long way to become something like the US.
I still suggest you talk to her over it.Maybe you guys will find a solution.

If she won't tell you, who can ? Some reasons :
* She do not want you to know her true background...
* She has been married/divorced in Malaysia before ?
* She has a criminal record and would be arrested once she arrived in Malaysia ? etc. sorry to be so negative... but....is she unwilling to go back, or unwilling to set up home in Malaysia ? if the later, maybe she do not like the present conditions in Malaysia (political, economical, social....), and life in U. S. is better ?
