will these people stop condemning sarah and stop these accusations. If the maid was illegal, even if the maid did something lawful (work honestly), that still does not make them legal. this country has law system, it isnt like certain country where they dont really care to impose immigration law on foreigners. so excuse me!

sarah, i dont think they have the guts to lodge a police report against you, from the sound of it she is illegal.

Illegal immigrant working without permit:
Immigration Act stated:
fine of RM10 000 and/or
jail not more than 5 months
possible caning

Individual found employing illegal worker:
worst than the above.

Maid facts:
Her aunt and friends would never tell you her whereabout. On average they work for 4 months and move on elsewhere. Most would ask for advance salary to send to their village saying son is having malaria, daughter is having cancer etc. After that, they will disappear.

Another maid facts:
Even if u keep their documents, they will still run away because, they can assume change any name they want to, the agency/friends would swap passports among them, switch identity and took turns to use same documents that they passed around to go home/travel.

make sure they replace u with a new maid, this time around, keep her passport if u think that will help. these people thinks u print money in your backyard, thats why they never appreciate your hardship of having to pay the agents/immigration to secure them a job.

sarah, ignore her aunt. If 'the maid' wants her 10 days salary, ask her to see u personally, otherwise, why should the aunt take her money on her behalf. clearly shows that aunt knows her whereabouts. Tell her aunt that u already lodged a police report, immigration and police is tracking her down and she should be very worried.

Maids are somebody we hope we could trust but more often than not, they arent honest. My maid also disappeared recently after asking advanced money of a few thousand from me. Her son came into malaysia to work in the fish market in the morning and at night he break into people's house. The one telling me this wasnt the police but the fellow foreign workers who knew them well. Mother and son, same attitude. well good riddance.

Sometime ago on YA there was a huge huha about malaysian blaming the foreign workers on theft and dishonesty. Well facts is facts. Uncivilised foreign workers cant be trusted fully. Now we know why some people are so negative when it comes to foreign workers. These foreign workers brought the negativity to themselves. 'kerana nila setitik rosak susu sebelanga'.

Sarah, i don't think she will dare to report this to police knowing the fact that the maid (or perhaps she is) is illegal. so just wait for her next action first before you react. never lodge any report if you knew it at the first place this maid is illegal the moment you hired her.

But do lodge a police report if you're being conned by the agent for supplying an illegal maid. Then the whole agent will face the consequences. But the risk is there - some gangster may make trouble against you.

So i would say, just keep calm, she won't go make a report or she'll be in trouble too. wait until her next move. Get a new legal maid

Oh dear Sarah sorry to hear the bad news but if like you say you hired her through an agency then its their sole responsibility as to her whereabouts. Legal or illegal is not your concern. But I would still make a police report if I was you just in case.

im sorry to hear about this. i know ppl who'v experienced this situation more than once. its quite a common thing with maids to run off just like tht. in my opinion, maybe you could discuss in mature manner about the problem with the agency and/or the aunt.who knows things could and might just get better. good luck btw

poor you.maid run away its a common problem in malaysia. if your maid its illegal its a bit complicated but you still have to log a police report because the maid is lost at your place, its a way to protect your self if the is any misfortune happen to her.
at the report you dont mention if the maid legal a not just explain where you got the maid and you are not holding any of her travel/ legal document. just mention where you got the source of getting your maid but not more.pretend that you are also a victim of illegal maid scandal.

Don't give a damn about the aunt. U should make a police report immediately. The maid is either with another man somewhere or she is with another maid agency whereby the aunt will give the passports to them for a fee. A lot of maid agencies nowadays encourage maids already working here to run away and they will get the maids other jobs. Next time pls keep her passports and permits.

Make a police report only if she's from an agency. Many agencies do this scam where they will ask the maids to run after a few months so that they can cash in. If she's not from an agency, just let her go & don't worry about it.

You SHOULD make a police report and inform the agent. You may need to give a copy of the report to the agent and treat this as another ran away case. You can ask for replacement from the agent and forget about this maid. Legally you should deal with the agent and not the maid's aunt. Oh I think you may lost some deposit or something like that.

I think just make a police report & tell them u dont know wether she's illegal immigrant or not.
u will not be caught by police.. you're consider a victim by the agency..

i think you shud lodge a police report. run away maids is common nowadays because they need more money (basic salary is RM400) to buy hand phone and find indon boyfriends outside and work in factory where the salary is higher. i think ur maid has passport and they (the aunt and the agent) are lying to you because they wanted you to let go of ur maid. i do believe that they have proper docs, it's just that they want to escape and have luxury and open life outside. believe it or not, no matter how nice you treat these people, they will still run away from you..

u cant get back your money from the agent.

if ur agent provides illegal maids to you, that means that the agent has commited a crime.

the agent has to be penalized not u.

Do log a police report b4 things gets out of hand. Also, this report will help you in a way that should your maid's aunt decides to charge you unnecessarily.. You won't know what is up their sleeves. And after this police report, you can choose not to answer any more calls from her aunt.

My personal experience and would like you to take note of...

In future, please make sure you hold on to the maid's passport. Also, get the agent to give you a simplified agreement that you need to hold back 3 month's of the maid's salary and this amount will be returned fully back to the maid after she completes her contract with you. And keep a track record of how much money was paid to her each time you pay her her salary. Make her sign for it.

As for the agent, you will have to talk to them about your replacement maid. If the agreement for the maid is supposed to be 2 years and with your maid running away, it is the responsibility of the agent to have a new one replaced.

Just hire a new maid and forget about it.
Let the other folks find the maid, its not your fault, the maid
is of age and good mind.
So much for the money lost.
Next time hire a maid dependable, alot of fast food restaurant
workers would love that maid job.

Being illegal has nothing to do with the fact that she ran away because you misstreated her. You will probably be reported to the authorities and placed in jail.

It isnt fair that you treat them any less because they are ilegal. Why is it such a concern now that she is no longer working for you? I'm sure you didnt care what her legal status was when she quoted you so low... Live with it, give her back her stuff.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE TERM SARCASM? Wether she is illegal is beyond the facts... So, I just took it to another level.
