Should Malaysia build a wall around Singapore? |
Geological features allow us to build a wall around the tiny island and isolate them from the world. And place some AA guns on the wall just in case if they try to get around by air. The that island state would finally taught a lesson and stop demanding our water and sand and stop causing problems to Malaysia. Additional Details I find the idea of wall quite interesting.
or maybe Malaysia should sink the island instead? it won't take us much.... |

malaysia & singapore complement each other. please bear in mind that singaporeans make up the highest proportion of the asian visitors to malaysia. singaporeans also pay a large sum of money for the water supply & each day, there are thousands of malaysian workers who cross the causeway to work in singapore. all these help to strengthen the malaysian economy. so, imagine if politicians "listened" to your idea about making that little island sink... think about it. |

Why would you get such an idea? Singapore has prosper so much that Malaysia is having such a hard time catching up. A smart person (or government) will learn from other governments who are successfull. Why won't the Malaysian government study the success of Singapore, learn and implement the policies in Malaysia? It won't do anyone any good to have all these negativities. |

U reckon so? well i beg to differ... If malaysia were to build a wall.. i would say.. it is damned right selfish...
As singapore is paying a great deal of money for the water supply from malaysia.. so i guess you should not complain and build a wall just becos u felt so... |

It would be really Idiotic for Malaysia to isolate Singapore since Singapore contributes a lot to the Malaysian Economy. After some time the Water contract will expire, then Malaysia can ask for new terms.
Singapore can choose to reject it since they will have their own source and Newater is getting popular.
They will get the sand from elsewhere and stop Malaysians from working in Singapore. All current permits will be rejected, and all Malaysians sent back.
No need to build a wall , destroy your side of the causeway.
All the hoodlums in JB willl be dissapointed at no more Singaporeans to rob, then they will turn their attention to you. Nice. |

I'm sure both govt have came into an 'agreement' and signed a contract on this. So how are the Singaporeans causing us problems? If we think the Singaporean paid too little for the water or whatsoever, whose fault was that? We were there when the contract was signed, right?? |

No. Here's a quick History lesson. It's gained INDEPENDANCE from Malaysia in 1965, therefore Malaysia has NO rights to try anything like that. Perhaps cause Singapore is causing jelousy by being so far ahead of them in so many ways. I berlieve Malaysia is free to trade with anyone else if they so choose, stop being such a secular racist. And just for reference, you obviously don't knowe that half of Singapore's water comes from SINGAPORE. |

are'nt we suppose to live in harmony, being a malaysian and since you are so proud to be one maybe you should practice what you preach. just by this question shows how a malaysian like you think.....btw i am malaysian too. |

Why not? Go ahead. This is how Malaysia is famous for. A Corrupted Government and terrorised (daytime robbery, killing, drugs.....) country not happy with a Clean government and prosperous country
To refresh your memory and for all to know about facts on water:
Singapore heavily subsibised the treated water back to Malaysia.... Ask Johorean how much they pay now and before and also the quality of treated water. |

batgirl: actually, if Malaysia does decide to build such a wall, Singapore can not prevent Malaysia from doing so on their own land. True, Singapore's not Malaysia anymore but neither is Malaysia Singapore.
Besides, why would Malaysia want to build such a wall in the first place?Singapore and Malaysia is so entwined with each other economically, geographically, mentally and even many their people travel to and fro from each country everyday.
Rather than neighbours, think Malaysia and Singapore as conjoined twins. Separate them, and trouble will follow, or you're one heck of a surgeon. |

My Dear friend. There is a saying in Malay " Macam katak bawah tempurong " like a frog under a coconut shell. This is exactly what I am thinking of U. U only sees things around U and does not open up your mind to see what is there outside .If U build a wall around Singapore, U are not killing the Singaporean BUT yourself. This is because, Singaporean are more accepted in the open market (World ) for outsourcing of talent and conversant in English ( the world language ). Economically, Malaysia need Singaporean help to prosper in their Property market, Businesses, poultry import, Commodity import, Employment and etc. If U build the wall around Singapore, Who do U think will help your country to progress ? Who will employ your people who are not as conversant in English as the Singaporean. What will happen to all your shopping centres in JB ? What will happen to your housing project? What will happen to your products and many many more things U need to consider. I am not trying to belittle the Malaysian, But, these are the consequences U will go through if U were to be thinking like the Frog under the coconut shell. Open up your mind and join the race. Take advantage of the progress Singapore has achieve, learn and take the challenge. Time to relax should not be a culture in Malaysia, otherwise, your vision 2020 will only a dream But not a reality. |

Please .... We have enough unrests in this world already. Take a look at the Middle East, Iraq, North & South Koreas, Zimbabwe, Sudan.
Look at the world map. Singapore can hardly be seen compared with Malaysia. By building a wall around Singapore, we don't want to be accused of bullying Singapore by the world community, do we?
Let's be neighbourly. Peace & Love. |

History tells us that Singapore was once an island that was owned by the Sultan of Johor. Without going into too much detail, the island was transferrred over to the British. Subsequently, the British seeing the value in the island, invited a large number of Chinese to resettle the island & together they have turned the island into a financial capitol.
When Singapore left the Malaysia, the question on every Malay mind was "When will the Chinese screw up Singapore so bad so that they will come running back into our fold".
This was the thought back then when the island became a nation. Another common thought by the Malays was that the island would probably sink because so many buildings needed to be erected. This came about from the jeolous feelings they habour because the so called foreigners have not only succeeded into turning Singapore around but have basically thumbed their Malay neighbours.
So the gripe the Malays in Malaysia have now is that there is great racial inequality in the island but in reality, this is to due to the feelings that they should be running the island but the answer that everyone knows is that if Malaysia Malays were to run the island, it would be chaos because of the special Bumiputra rights. This rights basically translates to not having the best students in the univerysity but having to be judge on your skin color and religion. From education to politics. |

We don need to build a wall. we dont let there plane fly over our border and don let ship pass through our water they will die easily...hehehe and remember Cut off the bridge and water pipe.(let them drink so call recycle water from the drain.)
That canot consider as Malaysia Not good or selfish.and i don think Singapore really contribute alot money to Malaysia.
Good Things That Happen when Malaysia isolate them:
1)Malaysia Port will be the busiest port and can Help Government earn alot alot more then selling water for them to drink.(due to shipping business will turn to JB or Else where in Malaysia)
2) Sea around singapore will be clean (due to Singapore will stop Legally expending their SO CALL LAND).
3)Malaysia good learning in all type of languages will not be effected by the SINGLISH(singapore english MIXED up of alot rojak language that they fell so proud with it,waht the!!) |

:) nice question..
If i am playing games like command & conquer i'll do what u ask.. (to cut the singapore's supply & stuff)
but it's the real world & real ppl live in it..
eventhough i'm not quite fond to singapore & its policy towards the neigbouring countries i won't do that..
eventhough singaporean is kiasu & not so friendly ppl when comes to malaysia.. i will not have the hearth to isolate them.
they need us for many reason.. even though we dont really need them.. anyway.. as what our malay says.."Tak apa" |
