Yes, I know we are all kiasu! But, apart from that....?

Show all answers

PnP
We are the same as any human beings.

Human beings are kiasu, look at the queues in the west when they are giving free things too?

It's only human. We probably just made it more interesting with hello kitty.

Kiasu-nism is here to stay, it's only human.

I just cannot tolerate those who do not give up seat to those who need it more. Then again, the same happens in all major cities.

Hmm....... i lived there for the past 6 years and i've moved one. But since then, i've met nice and nasty Singaporeans....

Not nice things are such as: Not courteous, selfish, competitive
ie: Take up 2 seats on a crowded bus so their child can sleep and deny other ppl of the seat.

Good things: Generous - Often donate LARGE sum of money to the needy ppl

... a cut above many other countries. Travel/look around and you know what I mean. High standards of living, no guns/drugs/corruption problem, clean environment, no traffic congestion, melting pot of people living harmoniously together, great language skills, variety of food, EVERYTHING WORKS. THE PLACE TO BE!
*and 'kiasu' can be a good attribute, making us more competitive

Singaporeans have no soul - everything is manufactured even behaviour pattern of its people. Its attempts in social engineering are testimony to the fact that all is really not that well. You may be Asia's high-tech wealthy city state but you still need to be reminded to flush the toilets.

...........just human ain't we? How sure are we that there ain't other humans who possesses the same KSes quality. We should be proud that we widely publicised it....

What's Your Problem?
To fellow Singaporeans:
Can you really say you're patriotic if we can't even throw your own rubbish away after a National Day Parade unless they organise some prize or lucky draw to entice us? I personally think it's disgraceful!

It's merely a small example, but I think it illustrates our lack of civic consciousness (despite the lessons) and how easily we're tempted by small gains.

When Singaporean donate to NKF, they were hoping to win that top prize, just like why they make long queue at TOTO Shop, but here they dont need to queue, but so very easily pick up their mobilephone call 1900 NKF and the top prize (a Condominium) in their mind. Instead of winning the condo, their money got cheated hee hee hee! Victims of GREED !
About 5 years later there will be no more human beings in Singapore.

anorangekitty

of course from Singapore. Singaporeans are quite friendly, even though usually Malaysians and Indonesians are more friendly. Singaporeans often speak a little confusing English, which is recognised as Singlish. But not all Singaporeans do that. I also think that most Singaporeans obey the very strict government rules. That makes Singapore a nice, clean, and safe country.

ebook-guy might be a little bit wrong about this stuff. I am a Singaporean who was born in Indonesia (I used to be Indonesian). And I can understand people who speak British English, Australian English, American English, and even Singlish. It is *almost* the same.

The 3 "Ks" of Singaporean are "Kiasu ", "kiasi" and "Kiapai". Translate into English will be "Kiasu:- afraid to loss, be safe than sorry", "Kiasi:- afraid to die, be safe rather than die" and "Kiapai:-so afraid that nothing can be done, cannot take decision, past the buck." Agree ?
