Our Hady Mirza's win was totally unexpected. Some haters even thought that he shouldnt even be the one representing Spore and wanted Taufik to go instead..so in your face non-believers.

Hady Mirza didnt have the best voice. BUT,He went cool all the way throughout his performance, had fun and delivered a sincerity and stage presence that the others somehow lacked that night. HE knew he wasnt the best BUT he gave it his all and it shows.

Sincere, boyish good looks,a great personality that managed to permeate through his performances that night, what more can i say about this brudder.... He deserves the title and hey, you gotta love the underdogs... :D

Good that Singapore has a name to show in the region, but wonder, what happened to other singing powerhouses like Japan, Koreas, Thailand, Laso, Cambodia etc etc. There are so many missing countries is it right to call this Asian Idol?

Stupidest and crappest event of the century

well too bad for you all who complains about why Hady won or because of the two voting systems. BLAME IT ON yourself!
the system is there loud and clear. because it is normal ppl will vote for their own countrymen, so you should vote for the best/fav other than the one from your country on the second vote. so it is fair..
ok so stop giving 101 silly reasons why he won,blablabla..
This is Asian Idol, not MY COUNTRY IDOL.
geez....

I have to say, it was really unexpected that Hady had won. He had tough competition from Mau, Jacklyn, and Mike, but pulled through with majority of the votes. There's bound to be some debate circulating around who should have won and so forth, but result's out and winner's Hady Mirza. He may not have had the greatest voice, but he certainly had the most appeal with his boyish charm and nice personality. Definitely proud of him!

At first, tot tat the other idols had better voices. But Hady is always the one who can connect to the audiences. This became very obvious when even the judges were seen to rock to his duet with Jacklyn, and it is mostly Hady's performance that moves them...! Jacklyn did not show spontaneous joy in the singing and the performing, Hady did. And I tot to myself, it would be a pity if Hady was not crowned Asian Idol for the reason that he did not have the powerful voice the other idols had(not that he does not have a good voice), because only he had the quality to move people with his performances. I had tot that if many asia home viewers were moved by him like me, he might stand a slim chance. Also, if the viewers were not mindless worshippers of their own idol, there was a chance that they might willingly cast a vote for an idol who is not from their own country but deserving of the vote: someone who moves them, rather than someone who had a good powerful voice, sings technically well, but gives a lacklustre performance. So, it was a pleasant surprise when it was announced tat Hady won. Definitely asia will not regret giving Hady the votes, for he will be able to entertain them with his passionate performances!

If i was him i wouldnt feel one bit deserving of that title...the others were CLEARLY way better than he was...it was pure luck how he won.

He was lucky to win Asian Idol. He got good voice but Philippines and Malaysian Idols are actually better than him!
He won because most of the fans had voted for him.

me =)
i agree with pau and jordi, Hady's voice is just ordinary but i guess his looks that won the fans heart.....i still believe that Mike from Indonesia should win the Asian idol as he has a great voice....anyway....congrats to Hady....but what will he be doing after he won the Asian Idol?????

I am very surprised that he won and I think it was because of the second vote.

I am a Singaporean, but, sorry to say, Hady not deserve to win the Asian Idol, cause his voice is just ordinary (good image package, yes but, not the vocal)

When he sang together with Jaclyn of Malaysian Idol, Jaclyn has a far more superior and powerful voice, so obvious. How much more if he is to be compared with the others?

Singapore's Idol is a joke, as most SIngaporean including me already forgotten who is the previous Singapore's Idol. And seem that this Asian Idol is a biggest joke.

rizsunawan
I am and more importantly the majority of us are. The support we gave doest go to waste. You are the best out there..your sincerity and humbleness outshine the rest of the voices.. May you succeed and stay to your roots..

People who are not Singaporean definitely will need weaker singer to be their second vote.
Hady is chosen not because of people expecting he wins, or the people likes his performance, or even look charm, or look. It is actually because it is a habit in the contest, they don't want to support/sms those singer who is stronger, like Mike, Jac, or Mau.

You will see this is true, when next Asian Idol the vote system changes.

Unfortunately, Hady, sorry to say, win not by favoritism, but by careless system.
I am Singapore, and here, Hady Mirza is actually not a favorite either. Singaporean are logical people, they choose Hady over Jonathan Leong, because the voice is better, although Jon is more charming, let's say. But still Hady's record sales is only very small 11000 numbers in 1 year.
Even, due to the same reason, now there is no more Singapore Idol event in Singapore, because of lack of quality. It is replaced by Live the Dream, a mix of group+single musician event.

However Singapore can use this as an advantage. Lucky, but don't be non-gratitious, as if it is because already good. Our music still local, no other country likes it. Can use it as a motivation only.

richelle g
a very surprising win but Yay for Singapore! Go Hady!

emy
well, people may say it's hady's luck for winning the asian idol, but whatever it is, asia did voted for him. whether people voted for him because they like him or to boost their country's idol by voting the supposedly weakest one (eg: hady) as 2nd, the point is they voted for him. and that's why he's crowned asian idol.

I am surprised he won but very happy and proud.. Yayy.. Singapore.

Coming from us here in the Philippines , we congratulate Hady Mirza for winning , it is the testament of the Singaporeans support for their representative and also for the other nationalities who voted for him .
As everyone agreed , Hady is not the best voice and singer in the competition , but that is mainly what happens in the formula of voting for two countries theycome up with in Asian Idol , if you are from the Philippines and you feel Mau's best competitor is Malaysia , then you don't vote for Phil MAL but vote for someone you feel is not a threat like Hady , if you are from Malaysia and you feel Indonesia and Phil is the one to beat , then you don't vote for MAL INDO or MAL PHIL , youvote for MAL SING (because you thought Hady is less likely to be the one to beat ) there is where a not so runaway winner could win . Everybody thought Hady is the less likely and Singaporeans are not as many as Filipinos or Indians, so he is always the second choice , but he got the most second choice better numbers than the number 1 .
Am, not saying this is what happened to take out the thunder from underneath Hady 's win but it could be the scenarion in this voting .What do you think?
