The single best advice I have ever gotten is:

"Positivity attracts positive and negativity attracts negative"

If you only focus on thinking and dwelling on negative things, you usually attract mostly more negative situations. If you learn to focus on the positive events of your life, you will learn to appreciate the many good things you have in your life. This helps create an outward looking positive attitude in you which in turn helps draw more positive events to your life.
