I usually start off with a fork/spoon/knife....then subconciously start eating with my hands. It just feels more natural to me. Even with steak. yes, steak.
oh yeah, and i ALWAYS eat with 1 leg propped up.
I may be only half filipino but i got the mannerisms to the tee ;) |

No I don't think I'm Filipino
Hullo, wake up do you honestly believe that Filipino's are the only people who eat with bare hands.
I eat fried chicken, potato chips, prawns and other shellfish, sausages all with bare hands. Won't try soup though. |

If what I am eating calls for the use of fingers, why should I be ashamed. There are finger foods as there are foods that need spoon, fork or knife or chopsticks. And there are foods that heightens your appetite when eaten by your bare hands. |

I know I am a Filipino and I'm very comfortable using my bare hands esp. when feasting on seafood. Its the civilized thing to do! |

It's a dying tradition of a distinguished generation.
As for myself, I don't eat with my bare hands (although I've tried it several times already) and I really don't think that today's digital generation would bother doing such a thing on regular basis.
Dining with your bare hands doesn't prove anything. It just means that you've washed your hands throughly. :-)
We now live in a fast-changing world and I seriously doubt if traditions like these would survive. But look! Today's youngsters are defining their own generation... with the internet, ever more mobile devices, bigger dreams, and greater imagination. Perhaps being "Filipino" is not about tradition... perhaps it's about the future and what we make of it. |

Yes, I am Filipino. And it's very nice eating with your bare hands.
It's an advantage if you know how to eat with your bare hands. In situations where there are no available utensils, you won't go hungry because you know how to use your bare hands in eating! |

I think I am a Filipino, therefore, I am.
I feel dining on fried chicken with my bare hands.
Now, let me ask you: Can you eat chicken with your hands?
Yes? Well, actually, you have eat chicken first using your hands, then you can eat your hands. |

I believe there's a Filipino inside all of us that tells us to eat with our hands instead of using tools such as a fork or spoon. |

I feel a great deal of freedom... and at the same time a complete disregard to existing human technological breakthroughs such as the spoon, knife and fork. |

I use bare hands in eating fries, fried chicken, burger/sandwich, pizza, chips, fruits... it's not odd...
I also use it when removing the 'tinik'(bones) in the fish, especially when we have Tilapia for dinner... |

I usually do that when we eat near the beach and it feels like heaven especially with Filipino foods (Lechon, lumpia shanghai, grilled fish, pork ans so much more..). Try it but make sure you wash your hands first with soap and use a hand sanitizer. <*-*> |

eating with bare hands is not enough to prove one's Filipino-ness. I'm a Filipino because I was born here and of my Filipino parents. I'm a Filipino in my heart, in deeds, in words... MABUHAY!!! |

Born of Filipino parents in the Philippines, I am a Filipino.
I can't imagine myself eating with gloves on. Eating with the fingers makes the meal more enjoyable. |

PROUD TO BE A FILIPINO!
We are flexible - we can eat with our bare hands or use spoon / fork / knife or chopstick - depending on the occasion or place. Some restaurants like the Kamayan even encourage their customers to use their hands. It's a culture thing and nothing to be ashamed of. |
