I think you are incredibly lucky to have this opportunity. I had the chance to spend some time in Singapore when I was 19 and I would love to go back. (I was 19 ten years ago).
There are many several storied malls in Singapore that offer everything that you can imagine. Therefore I wouldn't bring anything but your sense of adventure.
There is a large bootleg CD and DVD market in Malaysia to find movies and music.
Burt's Bees products might not be available since they aren't internationally well known, but the other large cosmetic companies have shops there.
Singapore is home to a large ex-pat community from England, Denmark and China to name a few. They desire some of the same products you do, so the availability of them will be better than you imagine.
I bought loads of inexpensive, fashionable clothes while I was there, but they were definitely more suited to smaller framed girls (which I was not).
Good luck to you! |

You might want to read up on their laws. Very, very strict. No gum chewing.
They really enjoy caning people for minor infractions. |

Well... Singapore is actually very interesting and pretty... visit the museums, orchestras, theaters, and retsaurants... there are french, italian and ethnical restaruants (they are good)... take music.. because it is not the same there.. so cds or ipod, etc... the style there is not the same so maybe take like posters for sooms or anything thaty decorates ur room, etc.. |

I would suggest that u just bring along ur clothings normal ones. there's no need for winter clothings as the weather here is not very cool n just normal it could be very hot at times too. Actually everything can be found in Singapore as there are malls n shops to buy the things u need (except gums...but u won't die without it) . so no worry! |

Get some products that only the states have exclusively. Like certain brand of clothing such as Victoria Secrets etc if you especially like them. Singapore don't sell them at all. We do have facial products but they are mainly designed for Asian girls so might not suit you ('m assuming you are a caucasian) that well. Shoes too! There aren't many variety here. But the rest such as books and DVDs should be fine. We have several big bookshops here. So that shouldn't be a big problem. Other health products such as the burt bees ones, even though you might be able to get them in Singapore, they are usually cheaper if you get them from the States. And I think there will be other alternatives available here, so you gotta decide yourself if it is worth bringing them over. All the best and hope you will love Singapore! |

You might want to stock up on things like make up. MAC is easily avavilable in Singapore but not the other brands you mentioned. Burts bees are pretty easy to get online. There's a community in livejournal that does sprees online. For example, drugstore.com
DVDs, CDs and books are widely available in Singapore. If you can't find a CD or DVD you want in HMV, you can just let the staff know and they'll order it for you.
You might want to do lots of clothes shopping though, while there are lots of fashionable and considerably inexpensive stores in Singapore. Nothing beats brands like Wetseal and A&F. Again, these can be bought online. But who likes to wait?
I hope you like it here! |

Most of what you can buy in the states, you can also find here in Singapore. Levis and other brand name goods are more expensive here though. Sephora is not available although we have SaSas. Burts not available but you can order online or get substitutes. You might just want to buy some Levis in the states since it is really popular to wear it here and it costs like $160 per pair. Louis Vuitton is more expensive here and we dun have Victoria Secrets. When I visit the states, that has to be the first shop I will go into, VICTORIA SECRETS! LOL.
Oh yeah and we dun have many fast food restaurants here. Just the McDonalds, KFC, Carl's Jr, Long John Silver etc. We dun have A&W and Wendy's etc so you might wanna have one last taste of your fave foods first. |
