No,
I've seen customers do horrible things for which I would have them arrested. It is amazing how some of the Berkeley Professors treat waitress like crap. |

Not in my opinion, but you got to do what the boss says |

No not really but you can't argue with the customer because you will lose business that is why they say the customer is always right. |

The customer ISN'T always right.
Good management is about giving our best customers what they want... right?
Right. And that's the problem.
The highest performing companies have well-developed systems for killing ideas that their customers don't want. As a result, these companies find it very difficult to invest in adequate resources in disruptive technologies - lower-margin opportunities that their customers don't want - until [those same customers decide that they want] want them. And by then it is too late. |

The customer is always right ONLY if they are following according to the customer/ consumer rights given to them.
They are wrong if they themselves violates the customer/ consumer rights given to them.
Lesson learned? Customer is wrong when they are LEFT! |

Being in the industry, i have a "silent" policy that the customer is not always right. In an extreme circumstance i have asked diners to settle their bill and leave the restaurant as they were abusive and very rude to my staff which i could find no fault. Refusing to sell customers any more alcohol when they are intoxicated to a certain degree thus disrupting the other patrons. It's a very thin line and being diplomatic always helps. The staff i work, owners, shareholders and our more refined guests have understood and support my principle on this. |

Do an analysis of your business.
The customer that keeps coming back to you with business and consistently gives you a profitable interaction is always right.
The idiot that only buys one item and comes back to you like he just bought the Taj Mahal is not. |

totally agree with golfswee. customer is NOT always right. if you treat me as your customer, i will make the living hell out of you. ask my fellow msian members here, they know me, hehe.
i've worked as sales personel before. and i do get top sales. and the thing i've learnt is that customers wanna feel right eventhough they know they are too troublesome. they just wanna argue with you to reach to an agreement. :-)
better to let some nasty customers go, rather than promise them the impossible. bcoz they will get mad and bad mouth your company. hehe. |

most of the time, but it they're not, call a manager. life is too short to lose a job by arguing with a customer. if you're a manager, stay within the limits of company policy. some people will try to push your limits. as long as you remember your manners you'll be fine. |

Yes and No... Within reason. Usually you would agree with their situation, but what you offer for the remedy to the problem is usually within reason or policy of the business.
For my reason "NO", a customer cannot expect to be "right" if he tries to come into a store and demand a refund if he has no receipt....or demanding to break a contract for reasons not within the agreement. There are limitations to when a customer can be right. |

The customer is wrong BIT$H. That was a great line I heard at LOWES one day. When trying to return some wrongly marked, lawn edging. I do not know if it was meant in jest or not so I went about my business with the general MGR. |

Actually no - I work in a customer service field, but we deal with contracts that the customer and my company have to abide by. We have to be courteous, but we do not always give them what they want. We have to go by the guidelines both parties agreed upon, so sometimes they leave our office very unhappy. So, no they are not always right. |

The customer is not always right. It's how you handle him/her that makes a big difference..Patience, calm, and not screaming help a lot, when you want to strangle a customer because you know that he/she is wrong. |

They may be right about whatever their issue is (or wrong for that matter, they are "the customer", but they never have the right to be abusive and foul mouthed to employees, and no one has to put up with that type of behavior from anyone. |

In terms of service provided the customer is always right. When comes to paying bill, the owner is right unless he has charged wrongly. |
