There is no provision in the Constitution that says a PM must be a Malay. As long as you can get enough votes esp from the majority Malays as well as other races, you won't see other obstacle.
The only challenge you will face is to defeat UMNO's propaganda that Malays are very weak and need UMNO's protection to avoid them being enslaved by other races.
Edit: HP, the student council's provision is the council's problem and has nothing to do with the Constitution, just blame the govt. It can be argued that it is unconstitutional. Don't know what's happening at your place, but when I was student my university's Malaysian student's body president always change between Chinese and Malay (mostly Chinese BTW). Nobody has problem with that. |

People like you makes war.
Put down the racial issue, your question should be:
Will our next prime minister be as capable as we expect him/her to be. |

Obama isnt entirely black, his mother is a white..
And then, Mahathir isnt a Malay, Dolah Badawi isnt entirely Malay.. so, we have already achieved what they just achieved in America.. But we are just too blind to see it..
Hahahahaha... |

M'sia? Pasal ini tak boleh!
But Singapore will show they can have the first PM from the minority race earlier than Malaysia can.See S.Jayakumar is the in office deputy PM.
Thailand already picked Thaksin (a Chinese) to become their PM, although he was later overthrown. |

Arraaghhhh...!!!

wait for another 500 years |

With the EXTREMELY narrowed-minded, insecure, and want-everything-without-working -for-it lots flooding this country, I'd say, in your dream, maybe. |

I think Malaysian politic is like a family affair. 40 years ago we hav tun abdul razak, now we hav najib tun razak; 30 years ago we hav tun hussein onn, now we hav hishamuddin tun hussein; 10 years ago we hav mahathir, now we hav mukhriz mahathir.
So, a non-malay PM for malaysia? i hope so... n i think it will if the sun rises from the west lol... |

We already had a few non malay PM. Some were from Indian descendant and some descent from Arab. |

Impossible.
UMNO will always come out with dirty tactics that will make u lose even though u won.
example: the election in negeri sembilan (Khairy vs. ?) |

dont care if its a white tiger or the black tiger, as long as he catches preys he is a good tiger.
now - tell that to the black cats they will tell you out of the jungle. of course if the black cats can think for themselves and not be brainwashed by the black tiger *so easily* then wouldnt it be just great? if these black cats arent so scared that oppression of others is the only way to protect themselves, wouldnt the entire jungle have lived in harmony?
** when i was back in uni, i was a member of the malaysian students council in australia - and a body under the malaysian government. the provision was clear for the malays to be president. clearly discriminatory. my malay president (who by the way was the most sensible educated and right thinking malay i know of) says this to me - what to do... the ****** government set this rule. **
now tell me there is no constitutional provision. your ar.se
---
the students council's problem is the government's problem. and where did this government get the driving force from? we have umno this student body umno that student body here have you ever heard of mca this mca that student body, OVERSEAS? how obsessed is umno with power is clear even to blind eyes. how long was it when you were in uni may i ask. i dont know what happened in your uni and i dont believe it anyway until i saw it. talk about constitution, like it REALLY cannot be impinged if umno proceeds to change it?
hasnt mahathir did it once? |
