Aren't we Malaysians are lucky lot enjoying subsidised petrol and others...we don't have to worry of driving to other states to pump our tank full....
Well, in a way it will affect a small numbers of businessmen and salesmen.... |

Yes. These guys seems to drive into malaysia with an empty tank, fill up with our subsidised oil, drive out, and sell em back in their countries for profit!(it was shown on TV3 or something). We lost, cuz we pay high subsidy, yet our oil (and nation's money, ultimately) is draining out for people who don't deserve it.
Anyway, I saw in thestar.com that the gas station owners near the border are complaining of this ruling cuz they say "foreign car owners are our most friequent customers."
So there you have it...they ARE frequenting our country just for the oil! |

the ban only for 30 km radius from the border ... not up to Penang or KL ... hahaha funny la some of you ... so i think that will be a good move to make sure that subsidized fuel goes to Malaysian. |

i fully support |

Ya loh, some of you. The ban is only applicable in border towns, not the whole Malaysia. Foreigners can still enter this country and freely buy fuel in Penang, Melaka or KL.
As a taxpayer, I support it. Our enforcement agencies also must check thoroughly every foreign vehicles at the border esp from Thailand for they are known for modifying their fuel tanks. |

I agree. Padan muka diorang. |

Yes.. it's a right move. some of the foreigners especially the siamese people have modified their tank to fill up lots of fuel. It' not fair to Malaysian citizen |

It is the correct move. Subsidized oil and food is for the citizens of the country from the Govt.
Singaporeans anyway cannot drive into Malaysia without their tanks 3/4 full as a minimum.
This oil ruling is mainly for the border towns in Johor and In the North. If you are really travelling around Malaysia, then you can still buy the oil at Malaysian prices all over Central Malaysia. |

of course. like an answerer earlier said, pay our taxes first, then enjoy the privileges. this move is to tackle the situation in which foreigners who come in a few kilometres, fill up their tanks, and head back home to their country, which is unfair for us malaysians, unless you have a superior generosity trait in your genes. this move will (hope it will) reduce such activities. no worries bout tourists. ive much confidence that even tourists wont find it a problem. |

Brunei started wt Sabah and Sarawak long ago

yups the most correct action.malaysia money is malaysian not for others.FOR ALL INFO only 30 km radius from border.so foreigners visiting malaysia should not have problem rights.sohuld done this earlier. |

How come we are in this situation ? Where are all the oil(petrol) that the country produced ? Why does the country have to buy oil ? We should be selling oil- like Brunei, we should not be paying taxes. Petrol should be at a nominal 50sen per liter-At US$130 per barrel, we should be RICH. WHAT HAPPENED ?? |

Isnt they is tourist? if they dont come by car, government want to pay for their bus tickets?? so what the Tahun Melawat Malaysia campaign for??

silly. non-sensical. It will do nothing to stop the demand; will just isolate Malaysia on the world trade scene. |

not really and not a good idea..this might be about someone's pocket money |

This is a comical move...
Take for example --> I am driving a Thai plate and I drives to Penang.. Then after I wonder around and I find that I run out of gas... I hit for the gas station and then the attendant tells me that "BECOS you drives a Thai plate, I cannot allow you to pump".. So, am I supposed to push the car all the way back to Thailand boarder??
I do agree that there are many Singaporeans who drove to JB to pump petrol but aren't they contribution to the Malaysia society too (like the tol charges, etc)
Anyway, whoever came up with this idea deserves a slap across the face for not waking up!!

Anyway, when a rule is being imposed, there is always lots and lots of discussions. There is no right or wrong to a certain decision and there is no 100% pros or cons for decisions.
God bless! |
