Generally puto is what you also call from kakanin but theres also different stuff that are not made from rice some usually made from flour..thats the diff.not all puto are kakanin..

Kakanin is a general term for all our native dessert made from rice. While Puto is a particular type of kakanin which is white in colour and look like a leaven bread. Puto is best eated with Dinuguan(a viand) or with grind coconut meat. Enjoy eating your Puto!!!!!
