I am willing to pursue my dream. My parents should be happy because their son found his ambition, but things turn out the opposite.

You have to have a dream, or you go nowhere is talking about the individual ambitions a person either has or doesn't.
When you sit back and look at how you spent your time on the earth as an older version of yourself how will you view it. Did you have a dream as a young person, and never did anything about it? If for instance, you dream about walking the Applachian trail you would need to learn about hiking, backcountry living, and work on your physical endurance. That means you would have to get up and do something about your dream.
Zac Sunderland, had the dream to be the first person to sail around the world at 16. He went to work finding a boat, outfitting it with his dad, and is doing it now.
If you have no dream of any kind you will have no direction, and very little purpose.
I have a dream of sailing offshore in a 40' long Irwin Ketch and going to the Galapagos Islands. I have learned how to sail, and have been working in the last few years on learning how to design, and build my own boats that helps bring my dream closer.

It means that before you want to be something you need to have dream. Here dream is not apparently what you thinking of. It is a visualising something you want to be. All people irrespective of great or small they would dream before they are into it. Take for example scientist, artist, politician-no matter what inspired them but they must have dreamt of being something in future. Once you decided your dream then ur whole being seek support to materialise your dream to come true, you start working on it by taking information about it. It is not all have been succuesful just by dreaming So that quote means that you need to have a dream before you begin your journey else it is impossible to reach there why becuase only dream or you call desire-which drives you to commit into it. First, to answer your question, yes I do. I dream of becoming a pilot....(and of getting the girl I want.."wink" "wink" :)

First, the quote is absolutely true...some of the reasons have been stated by blessed people above me.However, there are other reasons...scientifically and spirit.
There exists a law in this Universe, it's called the Law of Attraction. it's hard to believe this if this is new to you, but it's as real as the Law of Gravity. No one in this world camn escape the law of gravity...it doesnt matter who you are. If you jump off a building, it doesnt matter if you're a good person or a bad person..you'll hit the ground (ouch :). Same goes to this law of attraction. You cant escape it. It's working every single second in your life.
now, what is this law of attraction? It basically means, whatever you dream about, you bring about...All the greatest people in history knew this law etc Plato,. Shekespear, Buddha, Ralph Emerson, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein (his famous equation E=MC2 is actually based on this law), Sir Henry Ford, Mother Theresa, Sir Isaac Newton, Alexander Bell (He found telephone after knowing this secret), Beethoven, Aby Lincoln, Martin Luther King...
And this law is hidden from public in the previuos century and all the time before that because the powerful people who knew this law were afraid that other people will use it against them.

Back to the Law...It means everything that is going on in your mind, you are attracting it to you....its' all about what you're thinking. If you think negatively and actually believe that it's going to happen, you're right. For example, a person is always afraid of going late to work..what happened? His alarm clock is always spoiled, his car often got flat on his way to work, he stuck in traffic jam on his way etc etc...
So, to have what you want, you must first dream it...and let the law take care of the rest...now, how to dream successfuly?
First, visuallize what you want and what you're gonna do the day you got it...feel the way you'll feel once your dreams come true...do this as often as you can...whenever you see what you want fading away, quickly snap yourself to think positively. Or else, what you're afraid gonna happen, is going to happen...
Here's the point....To have whatever you want, you must first dream and visuallize having it...
