I believe the main attraction in the Philippines would be the people. I just love the philippines. My girlfriend and I frequent phils alot cuz of their never ending courtesy. Ive never had a cashier from 7/11 wish me gd morning or hello sir, but in the philippines, salespeople greet their customers all the time which i think is excellent customer service.
I especially love their shopping malls...HUGE malls! they have some of the largest malls in the world eg. Edsa Sm mall and SM mall of asia.
Besides that, try taking public transportation such as the jeepneys and tricycles... its really an experience.
Dont forget their beaches...Its a sight for sore eyes...beautiful sand, clear blue water and fantastically cheap accommodations.
I recently was in Laguna where they have a pretty cool theme park called the enchanted kingdom. And we visited Island cove which is in a differen state called cuboa...correct me if im wrong but im not 100% sure of the names. but anyways, im pretty sure you'll be back in manila for more of the philippines.
Ohh, and their women are beautiful. :) |

Queer Q is spot on, been to manilla a couple of times and its always been on route to escaping to the gorgeous islands .. palawan may well be paradise!! cant think of any reason to stick around in manilla itself when your that close to such amazing islands, make the most of it and take first flight out!! i used cebu pacific but there are loads of little airlines! enjoy!! |

Yeah mate plenty. For shopping Glorieta,SM Mall of Asia, Greenhills. For more risque entertainment I would highly suggest Quezone Avenue. Greenbelt has some very nice nightlife that all the happening and rich crowd go there. Plenty of Museums and tourist spots in Manila all you have to do is just research alot on the internet before you go. Always best to be as prepared as possible. |

Try any of Carlos Celdran's walking tours or his Corregidor tour (specially if you're interested in Philippine history).
I tried the walking tour of Intramuros before and enjoyed it tremendously. Visit his blog for info: http://celdrantours.blogspot.com/2007/01/tours-tours-tours.html |

Manila is the gateway to a beautiful country, the city itself is
not beautiful, however, there are places to see:-
*Intramuros, the sunset on Roxas Boulevard(Manila Bay),
the Greenbelt shopping malls, bars, restaurants, complex in Makati (for a look see),
*Corregidor Island for a bit of history, the bars and restaurants of Malate (genuine, real places with good food).
Do NOT stay in Makati, pick a hotel near Roxas Blvd by the Bay. If you want to spend money, stay at a modern hotel such as the Hyatt, if you have money and a sense of style, stay at the Manila Hotel right next to the US embassy on the bay, the rooms are ok, but the hotel is a blast from the past and wonderful. The Champagne room restaurant is great and cheaper than my favourite resto in that area called 'Juri's' on Del Pilar st. Ermita. Remedios Circle and that area of Adriatico, has hundreds of bars/restos. There are hotels in this area from 5 usd to 200usd a night and it's safe.
Malate - Ermita is a great area to be in, slightly more run down, but a real visual of this country's heartbeat......
Historical and Cultural areas:
1. Luneta Park
2. Intramuros- the walled city built by the spaniards but destroyed during world war II. san agustin church and most of the walls survived the bombings of the war. walking the walls gives another view of the city inside and outside the walls.
3. Chinatown
the best thing to do here is book a ticket on a plane for a cheap flight out of town to the provinces and beaches, where life is a pair of shorts, a cold beer, and a wallet full of much smaller bills(that how simple life can be in the Philippines).
In the country side is where you are going to see the real beauty of this country-beaming with abundant natural resources, diversed flora and fauna and prestine beaches that are truly world class.
Added bonus are its people that are very friendly and hospitable. |

Oh, and take a trip to Ta'al volcano about 50 miles south of Manila. Amazing. |

I would just pass Thu Manila to see how it is , there is a lot of things to see and do but if you do not have someone to run you around you will lose a lot of time Turing to get place to place. Try the other islands , the resorts are great you will have a lot of fun . If you are lucky to be able to speak Tagalog or be with some one who can, go to the smaller area and see the Philippines that has not been over taken by big business . |

Been there and I do not recommend the city. I recommend the rest of the countries 7 thousand something islands. I've been to the Palawan Island... it is almost paradise! I've been also to the Boracay Island... awesome.. the water is vodka-clear. Go to these islands you will love it.... trust me! And my goodness.. the food is cheap and fresh! Oh I love seafoods, they have all varieties of seafoods that you will love. hmmmm. |

Big city like Manila is crowded just to give you a heads up. If you like real vacation go visit the islands. if you have the resources, visit the El Nido resort in Palawan. or Dakak or Bohol island. Boracay is so famous already. |

Noypi couldn't have summarized it better. Go to Juri's for dinner - look for the big cow outside - they have the best food in Manila!
The Manila Hotel certainly is a blast from the past. It's almost like a museum - a dinner there is also worthwhile. Close by is also the Seafood Wharf if you like sea food. |
