well, it depends on your taste and which part you visit.
In china, depending on where you go, you will find diverse attractions just like US. You will find India more rural, but at the same time, there are great attractions like Taj Mahal.
So it all depends on you. |

I'm partial to China, for hundreds of reason. But honestly, I would love to see India, the ancient cultures, birthplace of Buddhism and Gandhi, the melting pot of the Indian sub-continent, Mumbai, Calcutta, the Ganges, etc. And dance all day and night to Goa trance too!
Both are exciting and challenging places, but I wouldn't say they are places to go for a relaxing vacation, if' that's what you are looking for, then Hawai or the Caribbean might be a better fit. |

The great wall is disappearing, frankly its a passion of mine to be there and just walk. Also there is 24 around the clock building going on in China, your going to be viewing a kind of industrial revolution right now, every thing is changing so fast there. Before I die though I want to experience the great wall, and feel the history. PLEASE READ UP, before you go to either country. |

China, i have to say, it has numerous scenic spots and places of historic interests, though India is not short of great sites, i can tell u, transportation in China is much better than its old neighbor.
Hope my answer can cater for your needs. |

I am planning my fifth trip to China. I have been to most of the major cities that you could name from memory. It does not get old. You just want to see more and more.
Some of the high points I recommend"
1. The Great Wall. Just see it. No one can describe it and it is so fantastic.
2. Shanghai. The old Shanghai and the new Pudhong together are just so incredible.
3. Karioke: These are so much fun if you are with a good crowd including Chinese people. You have to know how to count to play the gambling games but try it!
4. Dinner with Chinese people. Drink, eat great food, joke and toast...one of the great customs.
5. Now, there are millions more things to do and see. They are endess.
I know there are good things in India but now one has ever told me about a trip there that did not include bad smells, dirty conditions, etc. China is just not that way..you will love it. |

Obviously they're both fascinating countries to visit, and you'd get a lot out of a trip to either. I'm not so sure about India, but saying "go to China for vacation" is like saying, "go to the United States for vacation" -- it's a vast country, with very, very different parts of it.
Shanghai & Hong Kong are very much like New York -- big huge city, with lots of bustle, lots of energy, an active nightlife, and GREAT food everywhere. And lots of westerners, so if you get homesick for Western food, it's available. Beijing is fascinating, as it's at the cusp of modernity, and it's something that won't be the same in 2 years time, let alone in a decade. You can still see the "old city" where people have lived for over a thousand years... before it's all torn down over the next year or two. Pollution is horrible though.
They have very beautiful "national parks" like Huang Long (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huanglongsi) and that are on par with our jewels like Yosemite and Yellowstone (although, IMHO, nothing matched the awe of seeing the Grand Canyon in person).
I know less about India, but perhaps you can get thoughts on India from someone else! |
