That it is none of my business. Really. Why should I automatically label the girl as a **** or a gold digger? Or why should I be jealous? Of what?
I admit that I was a victim of such generalizations. A couple of years ago, I was dating an Irish guy. No, I did not meet him on the Net. And no, I did not date him because he was white. Or rich. Or handsome. Or for whatever shallow reason. I dated him because he was very intelligent (my waterloo when it comes to guys) and really nice.
I noticed that when we go out for dates, we kept on getting stares. Some people assume the worst, I know and I could only not mind them and pity them in a way for taking judgment in their own hands.
Case in point: There was this instance when I saw two girls looking at us. The guy and I were talking and the girls overheard me speaking in perfect English and our topic was anything but mundane. I heard one girl say, "Ay, matino at matalino pala siya..."
Translation: "Oh, she is decent and intelligent..."
It just made me laugh. But I did wonder why some people can be like that. And how it isn't fair to be judged and wrongly at that.
And so right then and there, I promised to myself that I will not be like those two. Not if I can help it. |

The first thing that comes to my mind is the line in a song :
LIVE AND LET LIVE.
We should never judge others, in the same way we would not want to be judged. |

Depends...
if the tall white guy is:
1) ugly
>> hmm... this filipina wants his cash. He's gonna get ripped soon.
>> Or, uhoh ****?
>> Or, maybe just pure love.
2) handsome
>> yeh, i'm jealous. but i could better girls than him. |

I think there's another guy that took possession of his life and went to find happiness in a new land.
I think there goes a lucky girl that probably loves him dearly.
Man if ugly mattered at all I never would have had so many wives and children. I never let ugly stop me before why should I here.
Every woman in the world is looking for a man they can love that is financially stable. In every country. Including America. What's wrong with that? |

Seeing such an odd couple nowadays is so common, it does not raise anyone's eyebrows anymore. When I see one, I don't feel or think anything at all. They become part of the everyday scene one sees in malls. Only those who are curious and to an extent, disdainful will comment and rashly judge them. |

Why ****?
Why gold digger?
Why jealousy?
Honestly, this thoughts are ill-mannered. So my answer to your question is clear. |

Blank. Nothing much comes to my mind. Well ok, if she's pretty and he's handsome, I'll go wow, a nice pair! If she's pretty ugly and so is he, then nice pair still. If she's ugly and he's handsome, my typical thoughts - whites really like "exotic" Pinays. She's pretty and he's ugly, hmmmm...

The end doesn't justify the means. There is this actor who is the host of an awards night in the states that says; white marry black, black marry mexicans, mexicans marry koreans... soon all americans will look like filipinos. The crowd was laughing but I don't find it funny. The same goes when I see filipinas with foreigners, at malls. Most are twice their age, old enough to be the girls' grandfather.
It is a sad tale of human needs. Old need the young to look after them and love them, to feel young again, to turn a blind eye though they know that it is driven by economics not love. The girl, needs to survive and/or feed her younger siblings and parents. Holding on the promise of a better life, though there is no guarantee of happiness and real love. Both are exploited. A classic tale of suffering.
Should one frown, I guess not. Just smile and have compassion. |

"The Tagala Lives Forever! " - that's a dramatic line from my oncoming novel, and the first thing that comes to mind, given the situation you potray.
I just love the Chinaman's answer. Reminds me of a question earlier about some Greek Philosopher and people imprisoned in caves and watching shadows on the wall.
What if the world we see now, and the inequities we perceive are merely shadows? What if the bloodline is destined to scatter with all the directions of the wind? And become the mankind that lives in sunlight? |
