Use your credit card & Euros or USD. (--,) |

Traveller's checks are not a good idea. Nobody takes them or very few. Bring two credit cards and one ATM card. Leave one credit card in the hotel safe. Withdraw enough cash with the ATM to last you one day and leave the card in the safe once done with the daily withdrawal. Worked well for me for years. |

Philippine Pesos usually do the trick.
Travellers cheques in USD can be changed at money changers and major hotels - but you will find it hard to spend directly with them. Funnily enough, despite thier American Colonial history, USD are not readily accepted as they are in other countries in SE Asia. |

You heard right about travelers checks. They are all but useless here. Just use your ATM card for cash withdrawls as you need it. Make sure you notify your bank that you will be visiting here so they don't cut you off afer the first withdrawl as a security precaution. U.S. $100 bills will get you the best rate at a moneychanger. Just make sure they have no marks or are torn or they won't be accpted. I would keep a couple hidden in your wallet as backup just in case the ATM lines go down as happens here once in awhile. |

The best currency for every day shopping is the Peso.
For larger purchases use the plastic fantastic.
No need to carry too much cash as ATM's are available.
Wish you a good and safe trip. |

local currency. but it would be nice if you have extra dollar cash in your wallet. credit & debit cards are not bad too, but the charges are high. |

The best type of currency would be in Philippine Pesos. Travelling around, you might need to use cash. In everything else, use a credit card/debit card with Visa or Mastercard logo. It's accepted almost everywhere. Even in remote provinces, resorts and restaurants accept it. That is why there is no need to bring with you a large amount of money. Be safe and only carry less than a few hundred pesos. You can always use the ATM to get more cash when you need it. |

Traveller's check are not that common in Philippines. So you better use your credit cards or have your currency exchange when you get in the Philippines. |

It's best to bring dollars. Most of the malls in Manila accept dollars and they'll tell you the conversion rate so you'll know how much it'll cost you from Peso to Dollar. Or you can go to an international bank and have your currency converted to Pesos.. Anyway, you don't have to carry so much since Philippines is cheap. Of course if you're planning to invest or stay a long time.. then that's different. But you're going on a short vacation.. you dn't have to worry about carrying loads of cash with you. You can also use credit cards there also.. Call your credit card customer service just to make sure that it can be used anywhere. I have never had problems with my credit cards there. But you have to know that there'll be conversion rate when you get your bill statement. |

if you have an ATM card, you can use that for withdrawing local currency just make sure that the ATM machine has a Cirrus or Maestro logo so that it will accept your ATM card... hope you enjoy your stay here :-) |

US dollars can be exchanged to Philippine Peso almost anywhere. Many stores and hotels now accept credit or debit cards. Don't carry so much cash with you, and whatever you have should be in smaller bills, like P100, so that even small sellers could give you your change. |

Once you are in the Philippines:
have your currency exchanged into Philippine pesos. The safest place will be the local bank although the exchange rate is smaller compared to that of the money changer's rate.
Request to have small bills such as P100.
If you are going to take a taxicab upon arrival, have at least P500 in cash, better yet, go to the taxi booths inside the airport, they have flat rates and are safer.
Happy travels! |

The best type of currency to carry in th Philippines are Philippine Pesos. The question kind of answers itself.
ATMs work great and give the best rate to your home currency, but they can not always be found outside of big cities. |
