That's A Lot of Nonsense

What's the one thing you would like to change about the Philippines?

I say the way people drive. Enforce very strict traffic laws. People reveal their true 'barumbado-ness' by showing total disregard for something as simple as traffic laws. This would mean driving within lanes and not on them. A two-way street would mean just that. Etc.

Once this is straightened out, everything else will fall harmoniously into place. Yes?

Filipinos complain about everything but they don't do a simple thing.

Filipinos complain that they are poor but they have the latest and most expensive cellphones. And oh yeah, they dress better than the average American.

Filipinos complain traffic congestion in the Metropolis but no one as in no one follows traffic laws completely. It is all subject to one's interpretation.

Filipinos complain about cleanliness and sanitation but I guess, they throw their trash anywhere they want.

Filipinos complain about their government but they never pay taxes. And they want more.

Filipinos complain about corruption, but they give bribes to the arresting officer.

Filipinos complain about their president ... all the time. For them, there's no one who's good enough to govern. Who will?

CBCP wants character change in the government. Can they do their character change first? No offense to these Bishops and other clergy but they too complain too much!

Filipinos complain about what other nationalities think of them, but they never show their pride.

Back in February, while all the nations of the world rush to help the victim of landslide in the Visayas, these opposition politicians and some Church officials inspired by the left leaning group staged a rally in the Metropolis. What the ****? How can you help the Philippines when they themselves don't want to help themselves.

If there's one thing that I would like to change? I guess, it's NATIONAL PRIDE. Only when take pride of our work. Only when we take pride of where we live. Only when we take pride of who we are. Only when we take pride of our flag, of our nation, of our heritage, only then that everything will fall into place.

God bless the Philippines.

Mabuhay!

I wish I could name just one...

- Men peeing at the nearest public wall...yuck!
- The idolizing of anyone with light skin. All the actors and actresses looking alike because they're all light-skinned. It doesn't take talent to be an actor there, only your skin color. Everyone seems to compare their skin color to each other to see who's the whitest. Why can't they admire their own color? It's so much more beautiful.
- Drinking and smoking. Too much of it going on.
- Idolizing anything American or Japanese. I see the most beautiful women with the oldest/ugliest Americans and Japanese men. It's sickening.

No. It all sums up to lack of discipline. That's what I want Filipinos to have- DISCIPLINE.

Manana habit, this is a trait we inherited from the Spaniards. Postponing things!
Filipino time, if you have an appointment at 10, they will come at 12, or despite the use of cellphones, they dont have the courtesy of saying they cant come or they will be late.
RELIGIOUS hippocrites is really very true. I know an old doctor, saying the rosary daily but saying bad words and doesnt even help a blind doctor. Those lay ministers who just pretends. They pretend to wash their feet acting as apostles but cheat on reports. Doctors who pretend to do medical mission but who actually take pictures only to achieve awards as Outstanding Physician of the Year! Falsification of public documents by recognized outstanding people. Monopoly in organizations, jobs, politics!

Under the table: Paying people just to avoid lining up or doing something illegal!

Politicians: who has double personality! Good when infront of the people but hippocrites and doesnt even follow the law themselves.

Gossips: How could people achieve something when they are busy gossipping most of the time. They criticize other people alot.

my professor once told us that in a population (in her example in our class), if 10% of it will change and do good, it will have a great impact towards development and improvement. so i guess if 10% of the filipinos will act disciplined - others besides on driving, we will be a good country again.

but, yah, its very hard to do, impossible i may say.

but like u, i still wish that someday philippines will be what it was before (magsaysay time).

Public perception on corruption. Filipino people do not trust their government. More people flock to cockpits than to attend mass on Sunday and most of them are politicians and government employees. Government men who own big houses and cars are percieved to be corrupt but those who have nothing to show are dumb.

I don't like speaking of a place I love in derogatory tones but...

I know it's going to be difficult to clean out...but a good thing to remove (first) would be the graft and corruption...there's just so much of it.
