having been to china multiple times i think it's all in their culture/lifestyle. Someone said chinese people don't eat alot - they obviously haven't been to China, Chinese people eat ALL THE TIME, but i think the difference is in how they eat and how the food is prepared. first off, they eat very little meat, because it's scarce - therefore more veggies and more rice/noodles. Also, they never drink cold drinks and they drink very little. Unlike us in the US, we drink all kinds of sodas and coke, etc. Also, China is SO JAM PACKED that anything is pretty much walking distance - therefore a ton of people walk, A LOT. a lot more than anyone here in the states walks, even if you live in a big city like NY or Chicago. They are also very healthy-minded people. Tai Chi and other aerobics are very common in china.
also, i dont mean to disrespect anyone, but one woman claimed to be chinese and said they keep the weight off because of stress - that can't be tru. Higher stress actually causes your body to gain weight = poor sleep habits, etc. I do agree that chinese people handle stress all the time, but i don't think it's relevant to weight gain/loss
EDIT: another thing i wanted to mention was that on my most recent trip to China (this past December) i was there for 2 1/2 weeks and lost 12 pounds. My friend who went with me lost 9 and my wife lost 10. It wasnt because we didnt eat, because as i said before - chinese people eat all the time, and so did we. We got "full" a lot too...i truly believe the way they prepare food is overall more healthy. Sadly, i gained 5 back in the first week and 1/2 in the states...it's all in the food we eat |

it depends on what you eat~ i don't think chinese women are all thin~ there are still some are fat....like american women...
well...i think you shouldn't eat full...the thing you can do is keep a healthy diet... you may eat less fat food and drink more water..
hmm....maybe you should do more exercise....you can see many chinese women at a gym, really! i saw many!
ermm...then maybe you can try to eat chinese food..it has little fat and can make you be more healthy!
GOOD LUCK! |

Less processed food. Less meat. More vegetables. Less soda and sugary drinks, including OJ. More exercise, much more, walking. Drink tea (without sugar or milk) and not coffee. |

As a Chinese woman i can tell you:
Stress.
We have intensive stress since middle school, starts from academic stress to work stress, and as far you you know, East Asia usually has much higher social pressure than western countries, and stress makes your appetite for food decrease, cause insomnia and get you sick. |

hi, i think you can refer to the answer offered by "john". it is a good observation. in china, there is a wide variety of grains. Rice is the main staple in asia but the chinese supplement it with a good serving of vegetables. chinese in the north consume more on chicken, beef or mutton while those in the south consume aqua products (sea and rivers), chicken and some pork. meat is comparatively less with the focus on vegetables. they drink lots of tea and yes, they seldom take coffee and cold drinks like coke... there are local beverages which are deemed healthy.in terms of cooking, there are techniques and skills to reduce unhealthy elements. there is something else not mention. the chinese exercise a lot... lots of walking and trekking. nice scenery or parks which allow the citizens to work it out. besides genes, diet do matters. there are lots more science to it then what i can tell you over here. |

Their tradiition chinese diet is very healthy. Don't think for once chinese actually eat garbage like deep friend chicken balls or egg roll, that's western stuffs.
Also, in China or HK, people tend to walk alot, hence exercise! |
